See if this works for your colors: instead of restarting sonar for changes to take effect, save your colors as a preset, switch to another preset, then switch back to yours.

Is there a way to make the selected console strip a different color?

The lack of colour choices is pretty black and white really..

?? I thought they were 50 shades of...

Never mind!

That "restart Sonar for changes to take effect" is a real drag too.

I believe that is necessary because these colours are part of the program .exe file so they can't be changed on the fly.

The "easy change" colors are actually listed in the registry and can be changed there too... if you dare.

I agree on better implimentation of the Preferences color list. I have no idea what some of those are. At least list them alphabetically.

The TV background color can be changed AFIK. Perhaps the color you're looking for is "Track View Track Under"

Thank you Sir, but the colors I were looking for is called:

View Background (odd)
View Background (even)

Vertical Measure Lines
Vertical Beats line

It is very unfortunate that we can't change the console background, because then I would be all set. I like the overall GUI of SONAR X2.

Visully S8.5 and earlier versions are more visually pleasant to work with.

Not here - I much prefer X1's UI over previous versions.  I would still like the ability to color CV strips ala PT, but otherwise I really do prefer the way X1 looks.   I haven't loaded X2 yet, but from what I saw on the Webinar they've made some minor tweaks that look nice.

In the end, color just might be the most subjective aspect of SONAR or any other DAW.  Visit the S1 forums some time - it's a similar situation where users frequently have questions/requests about the the ability to change colors (you can't).   Personally I think S1 has a sharp looking UI, though some of the icons and tools are a little small for my tastes.   And its color scheme?  Grey and blue.     Go figure.

I'm never one to change colours much so don't get too involved in arguments about it.

You should definitely load up X2 though Steve it's a real progression from X1. I found going back to it after using X2 to prep the SWA videos I've been working a real flat experience (and I'm a X1 fanboi ).

Nothing major just the little things, autozoom, the smart grid, the smart tool changes etc.

I'm sure you'll find it an improvement.

I'm lining up for the day when Adobe releases the next version of Photoshop, I will complain about the lack of sound support on the very first day...

What real comedian...
I don’t know about you but have you forgotten that we are Artist, Producers, and Songwriters? Our work is based on emotion and feel. If something disturb my emotions that irritate me and drive me crazy every day during I try to work with my DAW, that inflect the outcome of my products that I make.
You can call me drama queen if you want, I don’t care. I use my SONAR DAW, 8-12 hours almost every day. I have my music as living; it’s not something I do in my spare time.

You suggest that we that have problems with colors and like be able to change and customize our GUI to our liking should buy Photoshop instead. I think you should check out Excel and some nice boring pin charts. I think that would suit you more and up in your alley.
