  • Does SONAR LE work on a Dell XPS 8100 with onboard Realtek sound card?

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 with 8GB RAM, Win 7 64 bit OS,  and onboard Realtek SoundCard.
I also have a Samson C01U that I intend to use, primarily for voice recording.

When I first start SONAR LE, I get the screen telling me no midi outputs are selected, but when I go to slect the outputs, it only
shows Microsft MIDI mapper( I was hoping to see Realtek in the options). Selecting MIDI mapper does not do anything.

How do I proceed? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any input

Welcome to the forum.
You won't see RealTek in the MIDI output selection box.
Go to Options>Audio at the top, or press the P (preferences) button on your computer keybard (which one you do depends on which version of LE you have).
Select MME as the Driver Mode. You may have to close and re-open SONAR.
Once the MME Driver Mode is selected, you can use the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synthesizer to hear MIDI.

Thank You Greg,

Looks like it took me over the first hurdle....

I am able to record, and listen to the recorded, now off to start learning to use SONAR LE ... :-)

Thanks for your reponse...

And there's a sticky on this forum about using those USB mics. They're not that easy. And note: The mic is seen by your computer as soundcard, so the may be problems using it together with the Realtek.
