Hi,
I'm looking into Native Instruments Maschine, any thoughts, is it good with SONAR ?
does it do what it says on the tin ? I'm basically looking for anyone who uses it to tell
me if its' worth the price, and it's ease of use.

Thanks
John

Wow, that is quite a pricey piece of kit. It would no doubt look like the D's B's on stage. I've seen a few youtube vids demoing Mashine so it might be worth checking them out yourself.

What is your "discipline?"

I would have thought that you would still need a keyboard too.

          Hi,
This would be purely for my home studio use, I'm writing some other material just now outwith
my normal guitar based music, and yes I have a keyboard that I use anyway, I just thought that
Maschine looked, and after listening to some demos on you tube, sounded amazing, do you know
           anyone that uses it ?

Sorry John, I don't. I'd give this topic another half day or so... there must be a Maschine user here.

What about taking a trip to your local music store. Having said that, I bet not a lot of retailers stock this beast. You might have to bite the bullet and let us all know how it goes ;-)

Maschine is $399 so hardly pricey..

Its

a) a nice configurable midi controller
b) a drum machine with huge content
c) a standalone MV/MPC style beat making machine
d) a great standalone rhythm/clock source for hardware synths
e) a vst host (and Massive is free as part of upcoming update)
f) a 16 stereo out VST with midi in, midi out

for my 2c its worth it as a drum machine alone either in or outside of sonar..ymmv

          Hi Ian,

Thanks for your input, I see from your signature that you use NI, and obviously like it.
I was looking for a good drum machine as well as all the other attributes that Maschine
seems to offer, so it's looking good.

I use it, with the Mikro. Yes it works in Sonar. Very nice for making beats and easy to do so after a few days working with it. You will like it.

600 euros sounds pricey to me, but we all have different budgets and available funds

          Hi Laney,

I looked at the mikro version and thought it may be a bit small ?
Obviously you seem to think it's ok, I was looking at the price difference
between the mikro and the standard maschine, and it's about £200 ($325)
So that's something else for me to think about, Mystic 38 in another post
said it was only $399, so obviously a lot more expensive here in the UK
          equivalent to $750.

Yeah, I've just looked at the conversion rates and 599 euros = 479 GBP

Okay, still might not be breaking the bank but as a controller I, personally, think it is pricey, regardless of the fact that Massive comes with it, and a load of samples.

It is always the way with electronic goods, we appear to get fleeced in the UK for some reason (taxes?)
