But for the 90% of us who don't have broadband ...

90%? Really? Where? Timbuktu?

we are punished by not being able to cash in on the deal at all even if we wanted to ... or we get slammed an extra $30 bucks to get the DVD's

Those of us with broadband are paying $40-50 per month for it.

A bit expensive. I pay €20 for a 22Mb/s glassfiber connection.

I was in a couple of days ago. Such a great deal considering what you get compared to the price of some stand alone plugs most have purchased for that price and higher...

Ok I took the plunge, I got the upgrade to X2 producer. Got the free strings. Got the DVD box as a backup, maybe I can do a youtube unboxing. I Also purchased Overloud's TH2. All guitar players like free strings. Thanks cakewalk!

I can wait as the upgrade price will remain at $99.00 USD. And I already have high quality orchestral instruments. To tell you the truth, I'm disappointed that the bonus for early adopters is an external string library. I expected at least a Pro Channel module..., a never been seen before PC module. I'm not complaining since I got all PC modules including the Softube bundle on special, and they have and will continue to serve me very well. But this special is unfortunately not a special for me, and others in the same situation. I might just have to go and drown my sorrows with Fabfilter's Saturn. C'est la vie.

Note: For those without a string library, it's worth your while IMHO.

Addition: Oh..., how about giving us a choice of either the DSF string library or a couple of cakewalk coffee mugs? I'd upgrade right away!

right there with ya!

and honestly, I can't recall that I've ever used dimpro in a project...

far less than that now , 90% is a big exaggeration. I'd say it's 10-20% perhaps that are still on dial up or slow DSL / broadband..  even when I was in rural Ireland recently they had a decent enough connection.. they had errm sent over beacons , either sat or radio. forget which. more expensive , but that way they don't have to put down the cable.

I can understand in Oz and NZ that it's capped due to having to travel so far, but still

most uni's have had very fast connections for years, (JANET in the UK) .. so if you know someone going to a uni, get them to get it for you :)

I knew that eventually I was going to do it so I just exercised that option to do so early!.

I always get the DVD's as well cause it makes for a better install over here.

Will get the string download later when the servers settle down.

Will install X2 later after all the bug nosie quiets down and a new patch surfaces....

But, I do love my new cake releases........wouldn't miss it for the world.......

Just saying.
