I love SONAR, she has always been my #1 DAW and this release looks like a no-brainer and btw I prefer boxes because they're a more comfortable fit for me and it might seem kinky but I do like to collect them boxes like trophies. Also I would probably want to update my O/S (again more boxes) and maybe other hardware (cool more boxes) before I take the plunge and then think about O/S update choices; 7 or 8?, yeah lots to think about in the near future. Seriously!

What is the cost of X2 for a first time user?
....my bandmate wants to get into X2, but also wants the boxed version, and not a download.

Thanks again.

X2 is not shipping yet, right now CW is pre-selling upgrades only. If someone wants X2 as a first time buyer they have two options. Wait until the product goes on sale or purchase a copy of X1 now from a retailer which would qualify them for a free upgrade to X2. The upgrade would be download only but they could buy the disks for $30 from the CW store when the become available. Actual street pricing for X2 has not been announced.

Hi Vicsant, not exactly sure but I think that might be about $399 for Producer, or $199 for Studio, or $99 for Essential.

I wouldn't jump on the Win8 bus just yet. I have a feeling it's gonna turd out and the next version of Windows will be better. 7 is plenty solid and Home/Pro will be supported until 2018. It's likely gonna be like XP in the sense it will have a very long life cycle. I don't think 8 will. It's guts will live on but 8 as it is is just gonna annoy too many people.

Agreed.

Like Win98 then Win? (what was it?) That was a dud! Win ME (Millennium Edition officially, had to look it up!)

Then XP came out and became stable and all was good.

Then Vista and....

You know the rest of this story!!

I agree win 7 will be around for long time.

But, win 8 is not ME. It is the 6th version of the Vista paradigm. It will be everywhere in 6 months.

Yea the start screen is stupid. And some of the stuff has been moved for no good reason. (Sorta like a bunch of stuff in SX1.)

But the optimizing of the core will be desired for its improved speed.

As with everything, modifying and configuring are needed.

And lots of utilities are becoming available to help.

I really like the total lack of 3D crap.

I will install SX2 only on win 8-64 for the main music computer.

And so on.

I m in. Could not resist the free DSF Strings. I watched the webminar. Thinks that get me hooked are TH2, Breverb, improved prochannel, improved smarttool, takelanes, and YES! you can copy and paste automation, finally.

too bad I already has a full version of Rapture with 3 DSF expension packs. Any free sound for loyal customer like me?
