Will be able to change all the colors with X2 like in the old days?

Example Console view background to darker grey?...
I feel customizable user interface is important for me.
Thanks in advance.

I'd pay full price for a feature like that.

Heck, I'd pay now if Cakewalk would commit to doing it in X3.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Uggh, I'm so with you Freddie! I just posted something in another thread where I mentioned how I will never forgive whoever was responsible for just pulling our colors from us and making the decision for us. That really bothers me. What else bothers me is the lack of customization especially in the tool bar. I really miss tempo tap being right there on my tool bar and miss that I can't add in tools that *I* want to see. I can't change a lot of stuff and when you work in a program as long as I do, to me it's like buying a car.

I love Corvette's and have wanted to buy a new ZR1 for a few years now. However, what is stopping me is the colors they have available for it. I can't see buying a car that I'm not happy with color wise and I feel the same about Sonar. I'm trying to let them get through the growing pains part with the X series before I allow it to alter whether I use it or not, but honest when I tell you, this color thing and lack of customizing really put a bad taste in my mouth. Thank God for guys like Panu that will hopefully bail us out with X2.

I don't know anything about X2 other than what I've seen in the vid and read. It doesn't look like there are any color changes as the console view looks the same. I would think if they had those changes we would have seen a few different console color looks as well as them mentioning "and colors have now returned in X2!" If that is indeed the case, let's hope our buddy Panu can bail us out once again.

The Maillard Reaction

It's been my observation that organizations that have bad ideas and make bad decisions are sluggish to acknowledge the bad decision and then make the effort to execute a good idea.

I think it's even harder for an organization, that dismisses an opportunity to execute a good idea, to execute the 2 good ideas necessary to patch up a bad situation than it is for an organization that knows how to avoid bad ideas all together.

It's a lot to expect of an organization that isn't focused on the core of its product and service.

I'm hoping the lure of rent-money will get a decision maker at Roland to acknowledge that it's worth going through the painful process of executing the 2 necessary good ideas to restore the GUI customization we learned to appreciate before SONAR X lost the functionality.

1) admit that removing full color customization was a blunder.
2) provide official support for full color customization in a fresh upgrade.

Amen to all above. Dark backgrounds have been the norm for Adobe products for awhile now. I never liked the "Civil War" blue and gray color scheme, I prefer, for example, a "now time" that looks lit up instead of the 1st gen palm pilot look. I think a different color scheme with the ability to change it would make it look more like a brand new version rather than a major update to X1. Of course they had my $99.00 bucks on day one, how bout I throw them an extra 20 for colors too!

I was also unhappy with the lack of color customization. In fact, I could not even use X1 until Panup made the mods giving us colors or, in my case, lack thereof. I prefer a black background with white fonts.

NOPE. They said on the Webinar that there won't be any changes to the GUI.

Cakewalk bought into this Skylight interface which is not scalable or customizable. Its unfortunate because if you look at the ProTools console, its so much better. We have high definition displays now and yet the software doesn't take advantage of it. Yet Panup, who doesn't even work for Cakewalk or have source code for Sonar, was able to make it look better with his add-on. Cakewalk just doesn't get it. Maybe that's why they have a new CEO. I was tempted to switch to PT, but I didn't want to have to start over with a new DAW, but I may change my mind eventually if Cakewalk doesn't get with it. Also Sonar has been crashing a lot on me when exporting audio files and that too is getting old fast.  Sure it sends a note to the engineers, but you don't think anyone actually will respond with the cause of the problem, do you? Fortunately, I don't run a pro studio with real customers or I would be screaming. I've been a big supporter of Cakewalk for many years, but I expect more for my money.

Edit: Corrected name reference and a few other changes. Sorry...
