There has been several times when working on a project where the tabs in the multidock disappear.  I have two 28" monitors and usually have my TV on one monitor and PRV and CV in the multidock on the other monitor.

I will usually have at least two or three tabs...usually the CV and a couple of track PRV's.  Then all of a sudden I look and all of the tabs along the top of the multidock are gone...just a white background where they were, making it impossible to switch between the views.

The only way to fix it is to save the project...close Sonar...and reopen it.  Then the tabs re-appear.

Anyone else seen this before?

I think it's a display issue not Sonar's. Have you tried updating your video drivers? Or it could be that perhaps your video card doesn't play nicely with your overall configuration. Speaking from experience my video card wreaked havoc with my system until I figured out it was it. Changed it - problem solved.

To save you from having to close and re-open Sonar, try hitting the shortcuts to switch between tabs in the multidock (you don't need to give it focus for it to work). They are: -

Shft-Ctrl-left / right arrow. (EDIT: They even might reappear once you switch; it happens sometimes with such display-related problems...)

Good luck - I hope you solve this issue ASAP!

Thanks Sam....it has been a few months since I checked for an updated video driver.  I'll also try the shortcuts and see if that brings them back...!

I just checked...Nvidia has a new driver released just 3 days ago.  Will install it tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem.

Also be sure you have Aero on. Its important. You have the graphics horsepower to handle it.

Why Aero? I always thought turning it off was an important DAW optimization.

What is Aero?  I'm not familiar with it...

Part of Windows 7 (and Vista) I believe. It provides a lot of the "eye candy" of the OS and other programs but as I understand it also allows a lot of the graphics stuff to be handled by the graphics processor hence freeing up the CPU.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and it looks like I'm running Windows 95 - I turned off all fancy visual stuff.

Looks darned ugly but I'm not after the 'looks' on this one :)

A high resolution is needed, but I wouldn't bog the system down with fancy graphics stuff. Just my 2c...

EDIT: having said that, like FastBikerBoy said, I don't know if it actually would weigh the CPU down. If it's completely handled by the vid card, technically it shouldn't, right?

On the other hand, when you choose "Optimize for performance", all the fancy visuals go away - so they must play a part in it... ?
