I've now got a dedicated DAW as per my signature. It basically has the OS Win 7 x64 Ultimate and SONAR X1D Expanded and a bunch of Audio software like Sound Forge 10, Adobe Audition 3 and scores of VST's and VSTi's.
 
Now I also do Video editing and wonder what people's thoughts are as to how far do you go in having an exclusive DAW.
 
I really need to install all my video and multimedia production software like the Adobe CS5.5 Master Suite and Vegas Pro and the like.
 
What are other peoples experiences with this sort of mix of software. I'm only asking as I've always had everything installed including Office suites and anything else you could imagine. Never had problems really.
 
I couldn't justify a seperate DAW and another PC for Video work and it wouldn't really make sense.
I'm upto date with the no Virus checker and internet connection (whilst working) as well as not running WiFi though I've never had spikes with a gigabit network connection running.

I don't see why you would have any problem. You should be fine to run other programs like that. As long as it doesn't have background processes that are always running and clogging things up, it shouldn't make any difference. Maybe look at your list of background processes at comp startup, then install your video software and restart windows. Then compare the background processes. If nothing has changed (which with stuff like that, I wouldn't EXPECT it to change) then you should have nothing to worry about at all. Please keep in mind that I'm no computer expert, this just makes logial sense. Best guy on this forum to ask would be Jim Roseberry. He's the top computer guy, as far as I know. Maybe PM him.
