I am new to Sonar, and whenever i try to import audio, it renders the file whether it be mp3 or wav or whatever. then on the track, it says (busy) next to the name of the clip and it cannot be played. Any suggestions?

It sounds like its trying to create a picture of the audio in the track and for some reason it can't . See if your picture cache folder is properly being used. You can empty it by deleting the contents and check if you have an audio cache folder at all.

I deleted the contents of my Picture Cache folder and I can't seem to find an Audio Cache folder.

Usually, after importing a clip into Sonar the "busy" indication is displayed whilst Sonar writes the wave preview to the picture cache. Once written Sonar allows play & the preview file is used to display the picture in the audio track.

How long is the "busy" display lasting? & how long is the file being imported?

Select Original in your import properties, under options/glabal/audio data. For some reason your pc/soanr is having a difficult time converting it.
May i ask what sample and bit rate the project is and what samplwe and bit rate the audio your importing? Its good to list things like this, cause its info like this that will solve your issue.

No answers above, so I will answer here:
If you get the "busy" notice on the imported audio you have to right click it >
then goto the tab that has beats and adjust it turn on looping if you have to.
Basically Sonar is not able to determine what the musical time of the sample is so you have to help it out.

Chris, that may be if its midi samples, i guess, but he's importing audio and audio has no info except for smaple and bit rate in wave file form.
Right???

It would have to be an Acid file or REX file to have tempo and pitch info in it. What I would like to know is what constitutes an answer? No answers?
