  • DSF HD strings installer will not install the multisamples to the correct hard drive

I am trying to install the DSF HD strings that came with my upgrade to X2.  Unfortunately, the installer will NOT allow me to specify the external HD where I have all my DP multisamples as the target for the installation--it wants to install the multisamples to my C: drive, where the DP plugin lives.  also unfortunately, I don't have enough space on my C: drive for 13 GB of multisamples.

Leaving aside for the moment the question of how Cakewalk managed to ship this installer without setting it up to read the registry information that designates the location of the multisamples folder (which I've verified is pointing to the external HD), how do I get the installer to put these multisamples in the right location?

Are you running it "as an administrator"?

No, but I'm running under windows XP, so it's not necessary.  Anyway, it's about DSF not knowing where it's supposed to install; it's not about my access rights.

If you get this running, I would be very interested in how you like it.  As you may know form other, posts, I have Vienna, Hollywood, and some external synths and I use a lot of strings so a good collection is important.

Huh. Mine went to my E drive no problem. Maybe it doesn't like XP for some reason.

@konradh... It's good. It's not GREAT... but it's good. The demo doesn't do it justice at all. My big issues with it is it's just a little TOO clean. I was hoping for a little more bow sound and wobbling in the notes. It also has kind of a stabby/unnatural attack sound to my ears. It's definitely usable but the stuff you have probably blows it out of the water. The best way I can describe it is a very generic movie score type string sound. Think the opening theme to Game of Thrones.

Oh and I should mention I didn't mess around with it for too long so I didn't get at all the various settings of which there are many. It's great for free but I don't think I'd pay the sticker price for it. Cheers.
