  • Gravity? It's on sale for 50% off... But, is it worth it? Any experience with it?

The demos and videos sound amazing.  I've been doing some scoring work for a few independent films and it looks like I could have the opportunity to do more of this work...  Omnisphere2 has been my go to synth for ambience and variety.  I've also use EWQL CC.  I bought the Evolve mutations bundle awhile back to give Heavyocity's products a go.  I loved them, but I grew tired of them pretty quickly.  They aren't very flexible at all...

It's priced at $225 - What do you think?  Worth it?  Will I get much out of this if I already have Omnisphere?

Don't have Gravity but bit on 50% off for Ensemble Drums. Seems like a good amount of content and flexibility for the price. It is certainly not on par with Gravity.

See this thread in Deals:  http://forum.cakewalk.com/50-off-Heavyocity-at-NI-m3372394.aspx

Vastman gives a pretty good overview of the different libraries. Bottom line from him and others that I've read:  Gravity isn't worth getting for most people.

Yeah - I read through that thread.  I was ready to go for it until I saw that thread...

I guess what I was really looking for was how does it compare to Omnisphere...  Vastman says that it's not for everyone, I'm guessing I will use it a handful of times.  He suggested eDNA.  I'm not convinced I need anything new at all....  But Gravity has interested me since it came out and with the big deal, I though I might go for it.  But if it's nothing above Omnisphere - I'll probably pass...

Bottom line is, if you have Omnisphere2 you will probably not need Gravity. Personally I've fallen in love with Gravity and keep using it more and more.

I like Orbit better...not better than Omnisphere mind you.

Cool - what do you like about it?  What are you using it for?  Do you have Omnisphere?

I like the tweakability of the engine and the sounds themselves. They suit my style on making cinematic music. Mostly been using it on trailer type of music, but I've used Natural Forces and Vocalise for alot different kinds of stuff. I don't have Omnisphere2 as the price is quite high and my experience with Omnisphere1 have led me to the conclusion that the workflow is not really for me.

I love Orbit, I just wish they would release more for it. They said last year they would be and are working on stuff but they've been quiet.

You have to be willing to edit the "orbits" to get new sounds out of the engine. The presets are nice, but they are pretty conservative. Once you start editing, you can pretty much get anything you want out of the engine. More samples would be nice though...
