  • How To Deactivate Scrub Tool

OK, so I figured out how to activate the scrub tool (press J, then drag mouse). No problems there. Cursor changes to arrow with little speaker cone next to it.

Problem is, how do I exit the scrub tool mode??? Pressing J again does not work. Can't seem to find menu for scrub tool. No (visible) control bar controls it.

My only solution was to exit X1 and restart, but that seems harsh...

What am I missing?

Press F5. That should take you back to the Smart Tool. Or one of the other F-keys if you want something different.

I'm not sure, but maybe pressing T and selecting from the HUD works too.

Hope at least one of these suggestions work for you

Right, I remember someone posting a thread about that. I thought it might be some setting somewhere telling Sonar where to send the "scrubbed" signal, e.g. a bus or master output. If this is set to some other output on your soundcard or something then you'll of course see the signal but not hear a thing. However, I tried it my self and the scrubbing worked so I forgot to check if you can select the output for scrubbing. Not at my Sonar DAW at the moment so I can't check, but maybe this is something to look into.

Yep, the Scrub tool is just like any other. Just choose another tool to "switch off" the Scrub tool.

Unfortunately, I don't know why it's not working for some people...

Sorry for not reporting back earlier, but yup, F5 (or selecting SMART tool) worked.

I don't know why, but when I was playing around with the features, I found the keyboard shortcut to activate it but didn't mentally associate that it was actually a TOOL, and is selected by the command bar tools... Duh

Me either. Im one of those people. :(
I also have no audio metronome. Which is really killing me...more so than the scrub feature. I need that pre-count in which I don't have.  :(

Another easy way to pull up the HUD is to press the Middle Mouse Button. I find this easier than reaching for T on my QWERTY.

Of course Seth, I just keep forgeting about that. I have an ancient Logitech Media Mouse and when I press the middle mouse button, which I assume is the wheel in my case, I only get this magnifying glass cursor. It probably has something to do with the Set Point Software that came with it so I haven't actually gotten used to it. The "T" has been my solution;)

Ah, it must be your mouse's software re-routing the Middle Mouse Button to a different key or command. You can always disable or uninstall said software if you want, or just manually remap it back. I use Microsoft's Sidewinder mice on several of my computers and have never installed its custom software and the mouse works fine without it.

Or use T, whatever works for ya.
