Yeah, that's my conclusion too. I could uninstall the setpoint software and it probably would work - but I have kind of started to depend on it for my other Logitech gear. There's no way to swith it off for the middle button either, but no biggie for me. I work with my hand on the keyboard all the time. I'm not a point and click kind of Sonarian And if my left hand is occupied doing other stuff, I have the tool menu on the Control Bar anyway

BTW: The HUD is friggin' brilliant! I just wish the Snap To settings were available from it too. But again, no biggie for me;)

Yes this is important. On Vista the middle mouse button is for changing apps that are running. I made my Logitech mouse use one of the side buttons for that and left the wheel button for the HUD. Or is it the other way around? Anyway you need to setup your mouse for all the stuff it can do. BTW this mouse is a tilt wheel mouse, very handy. One can scroll up down left or right simply from the wheel.

Good to have you back Seth.

OK, I just had a look at the Set Point again and dumb as I probably am, only now learned that the software called the wheel "Zoom" (it's a boring software, I don't play with it much:P). So I changed it to "Middle Click" so the HUD pops up like it's never done anything else when I press it down now. Pretty sweet;) Seems like I can take Seth's advice after all ha ha!

I have a tilt wheel on mine too John, that's actually why I wanted it all those years ago. It could scroll in every direction imaginable. I'm so dependant on that now.

Sweet news ProjectM! And it's good to be back, John (still shaking off bits of NAMM debris).

I actually installed set point for my mouse, and it works awesome. I didn't have a center button for the hud on my mouse ,But I did have small un-usable buttons on the sides that did nothing, Now I used set point and the " T " key binding for the hud, and used the other button on the other side for scroll .  Very user friendly .

Ha ha, sure is Seth. Now the only matter is getting used to useing it. We'll see how that goes.

DJHart: I concur, Set Point is actually pretty cool. I've never looked around in it very much. I've pretty much just set up a few things for my keyboard(s) which is the obvious type of things (I keep breaking them all the time so if I don't buy the same model I need to do stuff in there). My mouse that I've had for 8 years or so just works so I never knew I could do all these cool things with it:p

OK, so I figured out how to activate the scrub tool (press J, then drag mouse). No problems there. Cursor changes to arrow with little speaker cone next to it.

Problem is, how do I exit the scrub tool mode??? Pressing J again does not work. Can't seem to find menu for scrub tool. No (visible) control bar controls it.

My only solution was to exit X1 and restart, but that seems harsh...

What am I missing?

Dekker

Just click the smart tool icon.

Old thread I know, but...

The help file only says how to activate it:

SCRUB TOOL
To scrub a single track - Hold down the J key to temporarily enable Scrub mode and drag over the track.

To scrub all displayed tracks - Hold down the J key to temporarily enable Scrib mode and drag in the Time Ruler.

Note: The Scrub tool is invoked by pressing the J key. There is no Scrub tool button in the Control Bar or Tools HUD.

SCRUBBING
1. Hold down the J key to activate the Scrub tool.

2. Click and drag the pointer over an audio track.

Tip: To hear the clips in all audio tracks, drag with the Scrub tool in the horizontal ruler.

My experience:
1. Holding the J key while dragging the mouse works as advertised. When you're done just release the J key.

2. Hitting the J key quickly, activates it permanently. To deactivate, select one of the Smart tools.
I've noticed that sometimes hitting the J key again will deactivate it, but this does not work often enough to be reliable. STRANGE!

3. Dragging the mouse in the Time Ruler does NOT work for me at all. Is this feature broken?

Dragging in the Time Ruler works here. Not sure why it's not working for you.

I was trying to use it in the PRV. It only works on audio that way.
