I would like to know if there is a way to bring a chord shortcut in the piano roll view .Major ,minor ,sustained ,augmented ,ect. I find that in another DAW this is an option and helps with creative flow .

I have setup my own actions in Reaper and this helps immensely. I would also like to know if this is possible in Sonar X1.

I'd love too see something like this as well.

You can probably do it via the CAL scripting but I've never looked into how that works.

can you explain a bit more what you're after, because I don't understand
maybe give some examples?

Hmmm... Creating chords with one click. That would be nice in many situations.

ah! but.. this you can do! :)

there are CAL-programs to create different chords from one note. And it's possible to create shortcuts to execute CALs :)

Ok, here is an example, in Reaper I can create an action for major chords and assign it to a button. Then in Piano roll, I click the button, then I drag to create a note lets say C, it will create two more notes i.e. E and G to create C major chord. Similarly, I can create actions for minor, dim, aug and so on... It's very helpful, if you just want to lay down some chords quickly using mouse. May be when away from your controller keyboard, etc.

Found it.. this is how you do it in X1:

in Piano roll view, create the root note (e.g. C)
then press Ctrl + F1, it will show the CAL scripts
double click Major Chord.cal.. voila.. now you have a C major chords...

there are some more available as well like Dominant 7th, Minor chords, etc. Nice.

Please provide some examples as to which CAL and how to run, etc. Sorry, I haven't touched upon CAL at all.

ok! :)
try this:

  • go into the PRV and draw a C-note.
  • select the note and choose process->run CAL... (Ctrl+F1)
  • in the window that pops up choose (for example) Minor Chord.cal and klick OK
  • you'll now see that a minor C chord has been created in the PRV

I don't know if you know how to create a shortcut, so.. Here we go:

You can create a shortcut for the Minor Chord.cal by going to preferences (advanced mode)

  • Go to "Keyboard Shortcuts"
  • In the search field write CAL and find the Minor Chord.cal in the list.
  • Press "locate key" and type the shortcut you want to use for this CAL (let's say Ctrl+E)
  • Select Minor Chord.cal in the list and click "bind"
  • You now only have to select a not and press Ctrl+E to create a minor chord from a note
