For those who have tried it, how would you rate it against Line6's plugs?

The more I use it the more I am convinced that it is better than Gearbox and Pod Farm

Overloud does Amplifier Morphing with SLR check it out here,

You can call up any preset simply by hitting the search button, Beepster already posted the video that shows TH2 can use up to 4 mics at once. You have total control over volume and placement of two of those mics.

all of this and the ability to have it on 3 computers.

There are amps in Pod farm that I love but now they have some catching up to do. You can have more effects at once with overloud and you have more flexability in placing effects. These are just some of the things I noticed. But I only had this a few days.

Guitar Rig 4 does not use IR's but 5 does.  If you use the Control Room Pro in stead of the older cabs it used Redwire Impulse Responses (IR's).  I know if no way to add your own IR's.

Gotta add that Control Room Pro is what makes GR5 sound so much better than its predecessors!

there is a hardware unit that all it does is provide cabinet simulation and its like super expensive I think its called torpedo by two notes and they offer a free vst here http://www.two-notes.com/...tware/torpedo-pi-free/ Revalver is know as the king of tone as far as real amp tone goes, in the software realm and it has a feature for working as a host to input a third party fx plugin at any point of the signal chain can TH2 do this.

Yep, you got it right on all points. When 4 Control Room and 5 Control Room Pro were announced (both IR based) there was a fair amount of user chatter about adding the ability to use your own IRs. There are workarounds as mentioned in this thread.

Edit: I find it interesting that IRs have popped up as a topic again. I though this stuff was old news.

Maybe I'm wrong but I though that GR4 used models instead of IR's for cabs.

Myconsumerclub thanks for the link. Checking out torpedo now. It looks cool. TH2 does not operate as a host and as far as I know you cannot put third party effects into it.

But you really don't need to let's compare features,

You can also load IRs. It comes with several, but I will look forward to trying some from redwirez.

I remember trying the demo/player version and the main difference w/ the real version was that it didn't have the IR option, only "matched cabinets".

I wasn't sure but according to this article, IR based cabs were indeed available in version 4.

BLOWN AWAY by TH2.  I own Guitar Rig(3, 4, 5), Revalver, Line 6 Pod Farm(2), POD XT Live, POD X3 Live, plus I use the LE version of Eleven as well as Ampire. I have to say TH2 is hands down the best for me.  I liked it so much, I went and bought the X2 upgrade version for $99.  First off, for me I need software that has a true standalone mode for those late night jams and moments when most of my song concepts come to me from playing around.  This has that.  The tones are exceptionally well done.  The interface is simple, and very easy to manipulate.  What sold me was the sound, especially the spatial sounds from some of the ambience patches.  The metal tones are wicked - with less high end "fizz" that I normally have to shape out of the Pod stuff. The low ends are detailed, and punchy.  You pretty much have all the stomps you need as well.

Slight knock on the GUI- especially on my MacBook Pro, but I can live with it for now.  A STEAL @ $99.00

Yea, when Control Room was announced for 4 I do recall some buzz by users to incorporate custom IRs, same with Control Room Pro in 5; hasn't happened yet. No big deal, there are other IR options and Control Room Pro is good enough for my purposes. I am interested mixIR2 (and the IR libs) considering the vendor's rep and it is 64bit.

On an unrelated note, I did use both versions of ReValver before Peavey bought it. The HiGain amps in ReValver II were pretty good but the effects were unremarkable. The upgrade deal that Peavey offered turned me away from the product. I would not buy an ampsim for the effects but the effects in GR5 aren't bad. I am waiting to try the SONAR version of TH2.
