and to hopefully not steer thing off course.   ... how does this compare to the Boss GT-100 or the Line6 HD500....

I won't go into Kemper land or Fractal..

I just downloaded the demo and I have a HD500. I'll let you know what I think as soon as I have time to play with it.

Well after reading through this thread I discovered a lot of questions I will try and answer the ones I remember? lol,

1. Yes you can use the demo as a plug in. navagate to the overloud folder and copy the dll files into your Sonar default vst folder.

2. there are some limits on the demo. you will get a basic idea how it works but the full version seems easier to understand and operate.

3. I Have used Pod Farm 2.5. TH2 has some better sounding amps than the line 6 collection. better than Revalver too. that is just my opinion. I think this will be the amp modler for everyone else to beat!

4. One thing about this is it acts a lot more like a real amp. When I play through a tube amp there is an interaction that happens that I don't get with amp modlers. well.. that is until now. The TH2 acts a lot like a real amp. This is the thing that really surprised me. feed back palm muting all the interation you get from tubes is there. I think that is the thing that impressed me most.

5. The volume wah pedals will operate independently if you have a midi foot switch/controller

The full version has 999 factory presets and 999 user presets. more than enough to play with. The amps in this are like no other sim out there. Just my opinion

One more thing I noticed. Loading in one (1) of Oveland's awesome plugins almost doubles the CPU load.

Have you tried running 2 instances of TH2 at the same time over VSTi, like 2 guitarists jamming, and does is double up the cpu usage ?

Thanks!

I used it today on four seperate tracks. a different tone for each guitar. I did not pay attention to the CPU meter but I had no problems. The project had 18 tracks.

Thanks Marcus, great info.

I'm glad the TH2 upgrade does not (yet) have a time limit on the offer.

I have GR5, Amplitube and the excellent S-Gear, and as the TH2 upgrade to the full version is £79 - equal to what I'm paying to get X2 - I can't see enough value for money there to take the plunge.  I'll wait for a special offer.

I downloaded the demo. I have GR4, S-Gear, Amplitube Free and AcmeBarGi and I think TH2 is pretty good, comparatively speaking. However, it has the same high frequency shrillness to it as the others. Well... AcmeBarGig doesn't have that, but the rest do.

Having said that, I will consider getting the full TH2. I need to play with it some more once X2 comes out first.

Thanks for the heads up on trying the demo!

Yeah I reckon that "top end FIZZ" is what separates a lot of Amp sims[and some more modern recorded guitar-Creed comes to mind] with good distortion coming from a Celestion 25w Greenback for instance, although Craig Anderton has an interesting way of reducing it via de-essing on one of the "Advanced" vids.
