I have Overloud's excellent VKFX (Vintage Keyboards Effects) which add so much more to electric pianos and e-piano patches so I am sure TH-2 will also be excellent. I am looking forward to the lite verson in X2 but i think I will hold off on the full version for the time being as I already have GR5 and Amplitube with tons of extras to use with my "virtual" guitars.

I downloaded the demo. I have GR4, S-Gear, Amplitube Free and AcmeBarGi and I think TH2 is pretty good, comparatively speaking. However, it has the same high frequency shrillness to it as the others. Well... AcmeBarGig doesn't have that, but the rest do.

Having said that, I will consider getting the full TH2. I need to play with it some more once X2 comes out first.

Thanks for the heads up on trying the demo!

Yeah I reckon that "top end FIZZ" is what separates a lot of Amp sims[and some more modern recorded guitar-Creed comes to mind] with good distortion coming from a Celestion 25w Greenback for instance, although Craig Anderton has an interesting way of reducing it via de-essing on one of the "Advanced" vids.

Thanks for reminding me about that. I have both his vids but forgot about the amp sim tips.

When I tried GR4 (the first sim I owned), I was using multiple low pass filters in series in the FX bin, along with GR4. I also turned off GR4s cab sim and used a free IR tool. I could get a good sound. It was just such a hassle. I am not sure why all these amp sims (apart from ABG) have this high end harshness to them. I just want to insert into Fx bin and go! lol

I can get a better sound quicker mic'ing my amp. The negative is I only have one amp so I don't have the versatility. Oh yeah, and my amp is LOUD! lol

Since TH2 comes free with  X2, I certainly will try it out more.

This sounds very interesting, what you  are reporting bout the TH 2.
Some weeks ago I used the opportunity to upgrade GR 5 .
To me Gr 5 is  good for refinement of pop sounds and "classic" sounds.
If the heavier sounds need some refinement I use  Line 6 .

Wher do you guys see the strengths of TH 2 , more in the
classic sound area (Pop,Funk,Mainstream-Rock, Jazz) or in the heavier
sounds ( heavy, stonerl aso) ?

Thanks!

It sounds more like an amp, and less like a piece of software for one Pragi... YMMV as always...

Didn't really impress me-I  can get Guitar rig 4 to sound pretty good. But then again I own an AXE FX II so none of that stuff will impress me :-)
Still think GR4 or 5 is OK

Well this is just mt opinion. But after having the full version of TH2 I think the disortion amp models sound better than any amp sim out there even line 6 and Pod farm. I will still use Pod Farm for the bass models and some effects. There seems to more interaction as to how an amp really responds when the TH2 amps are overdriven.

There are 8 amp modles line 6 has that I still like when it comes to distortion models. When you compare clean amps they are really about the same in quality.

The problem with the line 6 gear is I don't like any of their presets. but when I make my own I come up with some great sounding amps. The TH2 has great presets right out of the box. about the only thing I would change on some of them is to insert a noise gate.

At first I had a hard time finding the noise gate but it is there. took a little time to get use to the GUI.

Now if we could just get the AxeFX II boys to lower their gear to 99.00 ....

I wouldn't expect a $99.00 software to be able to produce the tones that a +2K guitar processor (which id love to own too) could.

But what it does it do,  it does it in spades IMO (key acronym here<<<)...
