Hey, Pragi... in GR5 try the Hot Solo head with MT-2 effect model (it's the Boss Metal Zone sim). After a little tweaking I managed to get a darned close representation of my old live sound (full on screecher metal). I may have one of the compressor modules on there too but the bulk of the tone is just the Hot Solo and the MT-2. Cheers.

Afa amp simulations are ment,
imo the AXE FX II and the KREMPER amp  are one step ahead of the
others. But to spend thousands of bucks for an amp-simulation is
tooo muuuuch   for me, but who knows, in the future,
if I win a lottery........

The best sound imo is a good miked amp (sm 57,sennheiser md 421 and
e 9o6 ao ) and a good pre-amp together with a di box recorded signal which
can be ,if necessary, edited  with an amp simu to fatten it or so......
This still has not changed.

Never heard an amp simu better then that.

@ Beepster,
thanks for the hind, i´ll try it this night.

Thanks for the infos about the distortion sounds of TH 2.

I have just recently received GR5 Pro and I like it alot. Also have Pod Farm which I like. I have an old GNX3 Digitech modeler that I still enjoy using. I have downloaded the demo for TH2 and I liked the Randall models alot.
(big Randall fan)
So I read some where that the version that comes with X2 has a couple of the Randall amps included, so that will keep me going for now. I was hoping that Danny Danzi would show up and give some opinions. I know that Danny is a big supporter of Acme Bar Gig, and I really want to see what their Head Case package brings to the table, because their stuff truly reacts like a tube amp does as well.

@Pragi... No problem. I actually find the Hot Solo sim to be the best of the bunch for rock/metal or anything requiring any serious distortion. It's not as squashy sounding as the others. Cheers.

So far I think the highgain is far better in TH2 compared against the HD500. The clean tones may be more of a challenge. I'll work on some of those before I comment. So far I'm impressed with it!

Well I'm glad to report that I'm wrong. Getting a good clean tone without the typical dinky sounding digital thing is really easy with TH2. The TH2 amps (along with the mic placement options) are really good, and the ability to load IRs is a very big plus.

Excuse my ignorance... What's an IR?

Beepster: This is not an endorsement of the product (I have not used it myself) but I bet you buy the full version before the end of year

+1...I am willing to make the same bet
