You may want to look into an SSD drive for your C drive and even for your sample drive if you can afford it.

What is your audio interface? That's the most important component.

Hi Dave

My audio interface is the Focsurite 8i6 USB. A simple unit but has quite nice mic pres in it for the price!

thanks

hi A1 - thanks for the reply. How 'easy' would it be for me to swap the current hard SATA drive for the SSD you mentioned? Is there much 'difficulty' in configuring the new SSD drive in terms of drivers and so on?? Thanks :-)

No drivers are required for a hard drive, even an SSD.  You can literally just use an imaging app (like ghost) to copy the drive, install it and you're good to go.

G.SKILL Ripjaws x 8GB [2x4GB] DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) high perfomance memory

Memory being very affordable these days, you may want to consider 2 x 8GB instead of the current 2 x 4GB configuration. This would allow you to up the memory to 32GBs (your motherboard is limited to 4 DIMM slots) in the future simply by purchasing another 2 x 8GB kit.

That graphic card will make a lot of noise..
For audio you allways should use  a second drive. And maybe a third for a dedicated sampledisk....

This would mean you'd need around 500 watts out of a supply.

If you do not use microphones around the computer then a tiny bit a fan noise isn't going to hurt anyone IMHO. My beast has a 2 gig video card (probably a 670 off the top of my head) and a fair few fans (the overclocked cpu runs at around 45 deg C) and my Factal Design R3 case keeps it all nice and quiet.
I'd rather be able to do what I want with my PC rather than make it a slave to one thing.

Grum.
