Seems like a crock to me ... we were hippies for the free sex and dope ... couldn't have fun with them girls if you looked straight!
good for you Mosh-there actually was a bit more to being a "proper hippie" .
sure,there was heaps of dope and sex,just like now, but it wasn`t free-not around here anyway.
in fact most of us don`t wear caftans and long hair anymore and communes never really worked(IMHO)but we still live out of town,mostly off grid and semi sustainable. but still co-operative with food and labour etc.
the only real difference is now I own my land instead of squatting on someone elses.
some people forget that being a hippie also was an attempt to love and cherish the natural world during a time when we still had a chance to actually do something to preserve and nurture it.
