I've had beer in 18 different countries and, still, Budwiper is the worst tasting (albeit best marketed) beer I've ever had.

I've heard if an American walks into an Irish pub and asks for a cold Budweiser he gets thrown out the door head first.

I'll have to tell that to an Irish friend of mine (originally from Dublin) who happens to own an Irish pub!

I hear that those down under have a similar revulsion to Fosters.

Fortunately, I live in an area that has more micro-brew beer than France has wines!  Some really good stuff too, though I certainly wouldn't pass up some nice Speckled Hen (among others).

My favorite beer is cold,

but I will drink warm beer too.

What I have gleaned from this is that diet trumps exercise.  I am going to perform a little experiment; limit beer intake for six weeks, and continue my exercise routine.  Also, focus on the fruits and veggies.  Sharkey, I will implement the interval routine you speak of.  I don't have a dog, so I'll have to find another motivation to take a walk.

Mr. Mosquito, good luck on your journey.  I am focused on -15#.  I hope to do that by the end of July.

I discovered long ago that my 1/2 bottle of wine a day ( for heart health ) makes a significant difference in my weight.  I'm beginning to think the actual benefit comes from the increased activity level req'd to keep that weight off.

I wouldn't say one trumps the other. Diet AND exercise need each other in equal measures. Neglecting either one will dramtically slow your process. Many people are disheartened when using exercise for weight loss because they don't realize how much heavier than fat muscle is, and they sometimes even gain weight by exercising. Your body weight is only half the story. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn in your day to day activities. Exercise makes your body more efficient.

What happens to a Nigerian if they walk into an Irish pub and ask for a cold Budweiser?

Of course, if your horse drinks Budweiser (in any form), you probably should put it down.

You're not the only one ... my mom is 95, and she swore to a glass of red wine every dinner, until these past 4 years, when she needs someone to take care of her.

I guess red wine is good for an extra ten years or twenty?
