Is there a way to disable some tracks so the project will play? Just delivered a project with 88 mono files. Starting and stopping....mute doesn't seem to do it. Can't get it to play smoothly. Run an 8core . thx LP

you can archive the tracks you don't need to hear. that will stop sonar from streaming them from the HD

just hit the "A"-button on the track(s) and you're done.

Why not just raise your ASIO buffers or WDM slider. I'm able to mix 100 plus tracks without any hiccups. its all about your sound card drivers and how you set it

If you have a beast for a pc, as you call it. 88 mono tracks should be a walk in the park

I was able to run projects bigger than that on my old Q6700 under XP32 and 4Gb (effectively <3.5Gb) of RAM

Buffers will change everything. Set them to 1024 if 512 does not work.

I regularly run HUGE mixes (80- plus) with Slate VCC and tons of busses (like 20) and FX (onboard and outboard) at 512 - no sweat. I run an i7 2600 with 8gb ram and a dedicated 7200 audio HDD - Nothing special really.

You do have your audio files on their own dedicated drive, right?

It shouldn't take much for a system to handle 88 tracks these days, especially with no plugs on (which I assume you don't yet). You obviously don't have something set up right. Give us your full spec list and set-up.

Are those all audio tracks or do you have a bunch of synths in there too? 

If you have synths.... freeze or bounce them and then archive the synths to shut them off. Freezing shuts them off automatically.
