I'm sure I'll find out real quick as I use the new feature. Can you possibly do a video to show how you guys use take-lanes efficiently? I'm guessing that a bunch of us here will watch and learn :)

I'd like to see a demonstration of Take Lanes while comping various takes on a multi track instrument such as all the tracks on a full drum kit.

Or, maybe we could see an example of comping tracks from several mics on a multi-mic guitar cabinet(s) recording.

Maybe there is some capacity, that I have yet to fully appreciate, for comping multiple tracks efficiently that will make take lanes far more powerful than comping "Layers" across multiple tracks.

Maybe?

best regards,
mike

@mike_mccue - I am in total agreement with you that editing multi-track drums will be the real test of whether the take lanes have been implemented correctly. I'm excited by everything I saw on the demo and by what Seth has added here, but that will be the real test.

Couple cool things I can tell you guys about Take Lanes ...

1. Their order can be freely reorganized
2. Show/ hide lanes does nothing to the order of said lanes
3. Lanes can be named individually
4. Each lane has a notes section
5. Each lane has its own Edit Filter (handy for showing transients, clip automation, etc. on a per-lane basis)
6. Click on a take and Shift + Spacebar to audition just that clip (with fx since lanes are routed through their parent track)
7. Exclusive solo buttons in each lane (soloing one take mutes the others)

Sorry if I missed any questions. What else do you want to know?

Dear Seth,

Thanks for responding.  My question was more with regard to comping.  If I have multiple vocal take lanes, for instance, and I want to you parts of each one, can I easily highlight the parts I want and have Sonar make the composite take.

For instance in Cubase, which I don't have, check out from 1:40 in this video:

I have been hoping for something like this in Sonar.
