this occurs on one of my projects only. go to freeze a track and get a flat line - ie, no wave form cant figure this one out. i tried bypassing all plugs and even removing a couple. it has worked once before while mixing. not sure what changed. has anyone experienced this and if so what was the fix ? ps - yes, i've tried restarting sonar (X1 expanded)..

Maybe you set that project to the function that hides the visual representation of the Clip to preserve system resources. I have no idea how to do or undo that... but if the clip is still audible that would be my guess.

Have you recorded anything or bounced anything in any projects after this anomaly appeared? Did the waveforms appear okay?

I'm probably way off here, but could it be anything to do with your picture cache being full?  If so, try deleting the contents of your picture cache.

jb101: yes, i worked on other projects after this problem appeared so, i would say cache is ok.. beepster: never heard of that function but i'll investigate. thanks !

Just a thought..

Do you still hear the audio even though waveform is flatline?

Are you using fast bounce?  What FX do you have on that track?  They may be odd questions, but with trouble shooting, you never know..

Yeah, sorry I couldn't be more helpful but it should be in the manual somewhere. The overloaded image folder thing is something to be aware of too but I'm not sure how that works either. Cheers.

jb: i should've mentioned that no, I hear nothing when it has been frozen and flatlined. beepster: thanks ! i'll take a look for that too very frustrating. I will try loading the project in safe mode - see if that helps. it may be a plugin..

What FX do you have on? Is it a VSTi?  Simple ins. track?  Any time based FX?

Oh... it DOESN'T play when it's flat? It probably won't be what I was referring to then. What I'm talking about only disables the visuals, not the audio. As was mentioned it might be a bad plug so you could try starting the project in safe mode and remove any plugs on the track one by one to find the culprit. Otherwise it might be a corrupt audio file. If you have previously saved versions of the project with that file in it perhaps try opening them to see if they work. Just tossin' ideas out. Good luck.

tried safe mode with no plugins at all and same problem exists. this sucks. i guess i'll just keep it as is and not freeze the tracks. i wanted to freeze them to conserve cpu. jb, same problem occurs in safe mode without any plugs so i don't believe its a plug now.
