tried safe mode with no plugins at all and same problem exists. this sucks. i guess i'll just keep it as is and not freeze the tracks. i wanted to freeze them to conserve cpu. jb, same problem occurs in safe mode without any plugs so i don't believe its a plug now.

What happens if you export track as Wav.?
 
You didn't mention if it was Simp. Inst. track or not.
 
I just reckon it's worth looking at a few more possibilities before giving up.  I know it's frustrating when all you want to do is be creating music..

thanks jb, yes all instrument tracks, ie , no midi.. im not even using a lot of plugs - mostly cake stuff, really. i think this project is screwed. 49 tracks, 16 buses though, i have other projects with more tracks and buses and even more plugs that work just fine. i will try exporting the waves. Thanks again !

also weird is the solo button seems to be stuck though no tracks are solo'd (no hidden tracks either) perhaps this is the answer, ie, a track is solo'd and when i go to freeze or mix down, no signal is heard... i have to find this solo'd track

Have you hidden any tracks? In the track view, try "Views" - "Show All Hidden Tracks".

I've never seen a "stuck" solo button before.

Why are you saying it's stuck - and where is it?

Is the Global Solo button in the Control Bar lit up? If it is, what happens when you click it?

Also check you don't have any busses solo'ed as these will NOT un-solo when you click the  Global Solo

Show all tracks - Shift + H

hi BJ, it seems to be associated with a midi track i cannot find. i have a bass track folder that has 3 instrument tracks that I can see and 1 midi track that isnt there (and not in the hidden tracks list either). it's stuck in that i cannot disengage it.

so i did contact cakewalk regarding this problem and while they did offer suggestions to remedy it , none of the suggestions will work for me. 1) copy and paste audio into new project. when did this, all tracks pasted were out of sync. 2) none of the plugs and or buses can be pasted. 3) i can't bounce tracks and export. bouncing results in no audio. so im stuck with this problem as is. the workaround is to solo all tracks. works ok but its frustrating that i cant freeze tracks.
