Any chances of improved video features?

Two major bugs plague Sonar's video handling:

Video export: 

If the video is not at at the very start of the timeline (mesure1 beat 1), the sync between audio and video will be off when exporting. That is SOOOOOOOOO stupid. When you work with video, you want the video starting at bar 2 to have space for a count off, our a 2sec beep, or, you will want the video to start at beat 4 of a measure, cause not all music start on the first beat. WAKE UP CAKEWALK!!!

Difficulty playing past the video in the timeline:

If the video lasts one minute, and you position the "now time cursor" at, lets say 1 minute 30 seconds, and press play, Sonar has difficulti starting, and will stand there hesitaing for about 6 seconds each time. This is bad, cause offten, I will want to work later in the project timeline to test an option, park elements on track before putting them inside the actual music etc,, with that stupid 6 sec play delay, working pas the video region becomes impossible. WAKE UP CAKEWALK!!!!!!

Just dropping my opinion here...i'd never recommend using the "export video" function in Sonar.  It is so much better/faster/efficient  to export a stereo wav then marry the music to pic using QuickTime Pro or Sony Vegas or any video editing program.

Thanks for the reply. How can exporting a wav than, opening up another program, importing back the video file and the wav file in that program, then re-exporting to video, be simpler than just hitting "export to video" in you daw, like you're supposed to do in the first place. I don't understand what you are talking about seriously.

Well exporting a wav in Sonar is very quick and efficient.  I use Vegas as an editing program.  Import audio and render a new Quicktime file (or any picture file) in Vegas is quick and painless. 

Exporting video out of Sonar has not many options and at least in my experience, is long and painful.  My computer will be tied up a long time while Sonar struggles thru something its not good at.  My secondary computer renders a new pic file quick and easy while i go back to work in Sonar.   

I would also like to see some improvements in video area as well. I have tried this feature only a couple of time and every time I had the problem of importing video. Even if it's acceptable by extension e.g. WMV, etc. It still complains during import. It never showed up in the time line, I had to use the video player to sync my music. It was not pretty. Exporting is also a pain in the bu**. I exported the wav file and used it in Windows Movie Maker for final output. 

How about allowing the Import of more than one video clip? Even if the clips have to fit in a single video track. I`m not expecting editing capablities just the option of putting more than one clip back to back.

This sounds like a good idea,  but i have a hard time conceptualizing how the time line works in a situation where you can load multiple pic files. I feel this is another reason to have a video editing program to handle video issues.  Get the pic in order and then export a video that Sonar can work with.    

When I edit video I use Sony Vegas as well. When I am done with the edit I export the video as an avi. I import that into Sonar and Work on the audio track. Once that is done I export the audio as a wav. I bring that wav file back into Vegas for the final render. Then I am good to go. I don't use the export functions for video in sonar because of the limited options and the problems I have had in the past,

Sonar could use some inprovement in this department. Sonar is not great for video but as a DAW it kicks butt.

Another Vegas/Sonar guy here. I  hope Sonar doesn't try to become Vegas, or Vegas try to become Sonar...they're both extremely good at what they do, and I think diluting their focus would be a mistake.

Usually I have a video "premix" that  load into Sonar, create the soundtrack in Sonar, export the Sonar wav, then go back to Vegas for the final video editing.

Vegas is a really great program. I doubt that Sonar will ever touch it in terms of video capabilities, as so few other video programs can touch it
