Included in my Producer X1 Expanded is the add-on "Guitar Rig 4", although I found the PDF files, when I click on the "Help" menu, nothing happens. Any help?

They should be there. Did you actually activate GR4? You would need to register with Native Instruments to do so. There will be an update waiting for you. That will give you full functionality of the Sonar version of GR4. Be sure to run GR4 as a standalone and use Run As Administrator while doing any registration/updating. If you have done all that then you can click F1 while GR4 is in focus (just click anywhere on the window and hit F1) or go to your Start menu and navigate to the GR folder and select the Help manual. If you do not have a PDF reader installed it will not work. Also you may have to right click and use "Open With" to get at it. If all that fails just google "GR4 Manual" and you can download it from Native Instrument's website. Cheers.

Sorry, that was a bit of a brainfart. If you have actually found the PDFs just right click > open with and then select your PDF reader. If you do not have one download Adobe Reader. It works for all the manuals I have.

It's V. 4.2.2 - registered and updated. I click the sub categories in the "Help" menu - nothing. Under "Run As Administrator" - same thing.

That is to say: I click the sub categories in the "Help" -> "Open Manual ..." menu - nothing.

Run As Administrator is to open the actual program (GR4). Try opening GR4 and pressing F1 like I said. Anyway, it is very quick to just download the manual from Native Instruments website. You don't have to log in or anything. EDIT: That's odd. I just tried to look for it at NI but it's giving me a hard time. If you can't get it figured out just call them and they'll sort it out for you.

As far as I can tell, there is no Help Menu for the Guitar Rig plug-in. Clicking on the Sonar Help menu will not give you help for a plug-in. 


Launch the standalone version of Guitar Rig and click on Help-Open Manual and you will get the manual. 

Interesting, sort of ... pressing F1 in GR4 makes it go back and forth from the standard GUI to the "Live" GUI. No help files. I really don't want to seem like a prig about this, and I realize that when one buys software, there are bugs, but when it involves something as basic and necessary as help files - that's just sloppy. Especially when the company making the deal to include their product in another company's product is doing it as an inducement to buy their "complete/Pro" version. It doesn't help the host software's rep either. By the by - thanks for your quick help. Nice to know someone's there.

Yeesh... I just spent another 5 minutes looking for the manual on NIs site. I always forget how atrocious that site is. It seems they have either completely yanked all the GR4 stuff or they've buried it completely... I mean, really... what a crappy website. You can download it elsewhere but I can guarantee the security of those downloads so be sure to have you AVs up to date and scan the poop out of the file.
