The mixes I am dealing with have quite a lot of sub heavy bass in them. I have found it is best to remove it first before the signal travels anywhere. Before the Pultec EQ in my case too. That also means no silly sub stuff is hitting MJUC either.
(or Xenon for that matter and I know that Xenon does not like gobs of heavy sub bass) MJUC and Xenon react more evently to the whole spectrum now.
I tried pushing Model 3 to get a full 2 dB of gain reduction. And it sounds good doing it too. Good news is the master is quite loud. Xenon in my case is only adding 3 dB and most of the time it is not limiting. I am getting a strong loud master that is 1 to 2dB higher than K-14 meaning the master is hitting -13 to -12 dB rms
Dynamic Range meter is showing 10 now on this track which means it still has plenty of it in reserve meaning punchy mixes. I have set the Punch parameter now to 2 pushing things a little which is great. DR reading did not change after setting the MJUC differently too.
