I do not own Sonar X1, but i have a strong interest in buying Sonar X2; currently i am using a DAW which has WaveRT audio drivers. I actually use it in WaveRT 'Exclusive' mode. This is great for me because i make electronic music with no external instruments and thus means i can keep my set-up lean and portable without the need for external audio hardware etc and it works great.

Currently with my standard inbuilt ubiquitous Real-Tek soundcard with no special drivers, i am able to achieve 5ms latency without any glitches on a 8gig ram i7 Laptop using the WaveRT drivers built into the DAW i'm currently using. That to me is good going and just what the doctor ordered.
I need to know if Cakewalk has any inbuilt audio-drivers to take advantage of the Windows OS built in audio-schematic that will allow me the same performance as i'm getting now without the need for external audio hardware... and if not, would cakewalk consider putting WaveRt (with Exclusive mode) into Sonar X2, it shouldn't be that hard.

I thought I had heard almost everything but you have me. X1 has no drivers for audio devices. I'm not sure how that would work.

I wonder if the drivers you think are with your DAW actuality come from the mother board maker.

the audio drivers has nothing to do with the DAW itself. the daw just uses the drivers you've installed (in windows) for your audio interface

you should be able to choose the same drivers in Sonar X2, as you've used in your current DAW.

I would recommend you to buy an audio interface more suitable for making music though..

WaveRT

is a Windows OS driver that was introduced in Vista. It is not part of your DAW, it is part of Windows. If you are using them it is because yoou are using your built in sound device - which should be okay - until you want to get audio in or out of your projects.
