Thanks Zo, that output problem makes perfect sense. I kept the 1.5 .dll's handy to replace in my vst folder when needing to open an older project. guess i can toss those now. I think this issue was brought up before... concerning machines delayed playback when entering record mode with a count in. I am still getting silence from machine until 2 bars in when it will finally start playing. Any thoughts?

Is this while using the pads to trigger the sounds in Maschine but record them to a MIDI track in Sonar?   OR are you trying to record a pattern IN Maschine?

sorry, will explain further...... this is when hitting R to record any other soft synth in Sonar, and concerns the playback of Maschines sequencer. Whenever i hit R and have a four bar count in, the Sonar session plays back and allows me to record normally, however Maschine will not start playing until 2 bar into the Sonar project and will then start playing from bar 0. So essentially I hear no drums for the first two bars, and then they play in sync but two bars behind. Playing normally is not an issue, only when I try to record a stopped position. I can hit space then enter record mode and everything is fine.

video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56HVf6HkP6k Hitting R you hear no percussion after the session starts playing, despite seeing maschines sequencer move. you hear it come in at bar 2 and then compensate for missing the first bar by continuing to play after hitting stop. i then turned off the count in and hit r and maschine played back normally without a delay.

will try to reproduce when i get back at home on saturday ..... but  when you hit play then stop then record , is it happening ...?
what is strange is that it contuniues playback after you stop ....do you have a count in in the record option in sonar metronome option , i don't see it well .....as i don't have this might be why i never seen it on my set up ;)

EDIT : i just rewtched the video .....change the countdown to 2 bars just to see if it works ...also have you tried not satrting at 1 mesure but make project construction (looping) from let's say the 4 th bars ..?

Can you try setting the metronome option to NOT play during Playback (keep it on for record)?
That's the way I have mine setup - and I never have a problem.

I realize some people like a metronome during playback ...  I personally don't.

But I'm wondering if this is where the problem is.

thanks guys. its an interesting bug.............. Trying different scenarios it appears the delayed playback from maschine only happens when there is a record count in enabled. I increased the count in from 1 to 2 which doubled the amount of time it took for maschine to start playing and doubled the amount of time it continued to play after stopping sonars sequencer... essentially exaggerating the problem. This problem is not a huge deal as there are plenty of ways to work around it as I have been doing, but it would be nice to have it resolved. I will open up a NI bug report i think.

Heard back from NI again.... "This issue seems to be caused by a bug in the current version of the application. Thanks for your report. We have referred this issue to our developers and will try to fix it in a future version. As a workaround you can disable the metronome count in."

FWIW, there was a message on the forum here somewhere stating there's a bug in Sonar with regard to synths that use MIDI OUT enabled (such as Maschine).   You might want to search for it.

Just wanted to bump this thread.  Anyone (ZO or perfectprint? ever find a solution to this?  It is really keeping me out of Sonar.
