Just got a chance to watch the Sept 5th webinar!  All kinds of great new stuff!

I just wonder if anyone else caught that cool little "assignable clip editor" thingy they mentioned at 20:10 - 21:ish?!?!?!

When Seth said we didn't have to convert back-and-forth to a Step Sequencer clip anymore... I think I pee'd a little!!!!!

I weened myself off of my addiction to hardware drum machines with the latest Step Sequencer, but there were times when it got clunky when trying to arrange and detail the drums.  This one little detail is really going to make the drum programming easier for me!!!!

Thanks Cake!!!!!!

Urinary problems aside, did I also see nested folders in Track View?

If I did, I wonder now if we have access to true nesting where you can nest down to as many levels as you want

Yes! I think the tighter integration of the Step Sequencer as just another view of MIDI will make it a lot more accessable and useful.

I'm really looking forward to this as well.. :)

And I'm also really looking forward to exploring these functions on audio-clips too!! They didn't mention anything about this on the webinar, but I saw little icons at the top of the audio-clips in the "SONAR X2 first look"-film they released.. :)

Can't wait until I can start exploring X2! :D

Here: Check out the top of the audio-clips.. XD

(My guess would be: FX = Clip FX Bin . . .  The little fader = Clip gain . . .  and that V-like thing on the red take at the bottom = V-Vocal . . . and 200% on the green top one = time stretch)

I think the little "icons" possibly tell you which editor the clip is assigned to.  In the webinar they said you could assign a clip to e.g. Step Sequencer or PRV or Loop Construction etc for when you double click it..  Those little pictures look like representations of those.  I don't think they do anything other than indicate which it is.  I may be wrong.

I agree the two Vs look like VVocal and FX is prob. Clip FX Bin.

no you're not wrong :)
i saw the webinar and you first choose in which editor you want to open the MIDI-clips in a drop-down menu and then this is set as default for this specific clip.

what i mean is just that they didn't show how you use the little icons (shown in the sonar preview-film) on the audio-clips at the webinar + that i'm looking forward to exploring this.. :)

I think your reply was a little harsh, in the circumstances, but I'll put it down to cultural differences.

Neither of us know for sure what these are.  You suggested one thing, vaguely, I suggested another.

I hardly think that made me "Wrong".  I too, saw the webinar and the preview film.  I suggested that maybe they are not icons, but indicators of some sort.  Nowhere, IIRC, does anyone mention icons.  If you look at the MIDI clips, they show, I GUESS, Step Sequencer and PRV in the corner, suggesting that they have been set to open in those editors.  I merely pointed out that maybe the pictures on the audio clips were similar.

If you are privy to Cake Info that the rest of us our not, I apologise.  If so, why post a question?

If you are not, then don't take attitude when someone suggests an alternate opinion.

I fear you mistake opinion with fact.

Be Happy.

I quite like the new snap module.

Being able to change between Snap To and Snap By without opening Prefs looks quite handy.

Just watched the beginning of the program, think I'm gonna save the rest for later since it will be more usefull when I actually have X2 at my fingertips.

eh... ...What?..
I have no idea of what you're saying? In what way was I harsh? And where do I say that you're wrong?! ...
... I actually said that you're right!!! :S

They were quite clear in the webinar about how this works with midi-clips. So this we already know.. There's no mystery here...

What I did was also merely pointing out that maybe the pictures on the audio clips were similar... but that I'm looking forward to test this because they didn't show it in the webinar!

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh this time, but I get a bit tired when people take offence when there nothing there to get offended by!!..

..and also: I get no more info from cakewalk than anyone else. But the info I get, I understand and remember
