  • Dumb Question: Do JBridge/Bitbridge work automatically?

If not what's the process? I've been avoiding 32 bit plugs like the plague but I kind of want to start playing around with the AcmeBarGig stuff. I'm hoping it's not gonna be a huge pain. Cheers.

Whenever I've inserted a 32 bit plug into a project,  it has always automatically worked with no problems, and without having to open the wrapper.  I occasionally use some of the older 32 bit synths still included with X1 as well as many of the freebies I've collected over the years.

Thanks. So just treat it like a 64 bit plug and everything should be fine? I'm curious about the phrase "open the wrapper". I'm assuming that is something that needs to be done if the plug isn't playing nice.

You might want to segregate the 32 bit stuff from the 64 bit stuff. Put the dlls in c:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins and maybe think about a little more org like adding a directory under Vstplugins for AcmeBarGig. Make sure to add the directory to the Plugin Manager and rescan your plugins.
There are a few bitbridge options in Edit > Peferences > File > VST Settings you can mess with if necessary.

Cool. Thanks, scook.

Bitbridge is automatic Jbride is not but X1 supports it.

Hi, John. Interesting. I've seen people talk about using JBridge when bitbridge wasn't cutting it (in fact I think the ABG plugs are supposed to work better with JBridge). I'm assuming I'd fiddle with that in the settings section scook was referring to.

JBridge has its own setup. What X1 does is let you use JBridge. I use it for only one plugin. All others use Bitbridge. However I have been moving away from 32 bit plugins altogether. Now I only have a few 32 bit plugins I use and even scan in 64 bit X1.

I hear ya and I wasn't even gonna bother with any 32 bit stuff but the ABG amps look too good to pass up... especially considering they are free. If they're good enough for Danny they are good enough for me. :-)

I use a lot of x32 plugs, along with x64 plugs, I use jBridge and Automap, and multiple hosts, each having their own set of plugins properly organised in folders and subfolders, no matter how messed up my plugin installations went over the years....

I wrote a utility which organises and manages everything for me. Bit geeky, but maybe you want to try?
