OK, I'm going bat crap crazy trying learn whether or not I need to buy X1 expanded! to get the Expander Gate? What is X1 Expanded exactly? It doesn't come with the Expander Gate? I've very very confused.

Will X2 Come with the components of the "Expanded" already? Would it be foolish to buy the Expanded upgrade Now only to get it in X2 later on?

I intend on pre ordering X2. Are what upgrades I order today going to be obsolete? I was trying to buy the expander gate but it says I need to have the Expanded edition in order to use it.

I don't know, I've had way too much coffee today and I think I'm about to have an aneurysm trying to figure all this out. Could someone please, please help me out here.

The features of X1 Producer Expanded have been incorporated into X2 Producer.
If you want the PC Expander/Gate module you will have to purchase it separately.
The PC modules have gone on sale several times so you might want to wait for a sale.

You ask some good questions. I'm not sure about all the details. But I can tell you what X1 Expanded is. Its an update to Producer that adds more functionally to it. You get an improved PC that is scrollable and comes with the Big Knob tube saturation by Soft Tube. Further The Quad EQ is enhanced with an all new interface and different types of EQ.  The other modules are extra cost items that expanded can insert. I have them all from CW.

I don't know what will be included in X2 Producer except that all the new features in the PC from Expanded will be included as well as new ones. I don't know if the extra cost modules will be included either but you do get more modules with X2.

So, if I'm going to upgrade to X2 should I wait and not upgrade to expanded and then buy the gate or other modules?  I mean, from what I've read about X2 is it's going to have some of those elements right? What's going to be the better deal? What would you do if you were in my situation? I'm sorry. I've been sitting in front of this computer for hours now and I'm very fatigued.

Thanks guys.  I mean really, If I knew what plug ins were or weren't going to be include or transferable I'd be better informed whether or not to buy it now or not.  I think it would be silly to buy something that's going to be included in a product in a couple of months or whatever.

This all started because I was looking for a gate to do some trance gate effects and the such. I tried to use the Sonitus gate with no luck! Then I went on to trying to use the Expander Gate in the Channel Strip but I don't even have it. What a day.

the xpanded was good value, allowed use of extra pc modules, and the payback is that the upgrade to x2 is cheaper.. so it was a decent purchase for me..
imo the sonitus gate blows the pc gate out of the water for trance gate effects...

Hello All,

X1 Producer Expanded was an update to X1 Producer, kind of like a .5 update, like what we did with 8.5. All of the features from X1 Producer Expanded are now in X2 Producer.

However, the optional, add-on ProChannel modules like PC4K Expander/ Gate, PC2A Leveler, etc. were never included in X1 Producer Expanded and are not included in X2 Producer. They are still add-ons and are available for purchase separately on our store.

As of September 5th, when SONAR X2 went on pre-sale, upgrades to X1 were removed. So, right now you can't get X1 Producer Expanded anyways, nor would it have been worth your money because X2 Producer will have all of those features and more.

Cool, I'll see if I can get the Sonitus Gate to work. I wasn't having much luck earlier.  I'm  trying to set up some gate modulation in Massive right now but jeez that's a bit tedious. Yesterday I was working with Omnisphere which has a fairly straight forward approach to it but it's just way too configurable and adjusting the nodes was killing me.  I was directed to the CamelSpace plug in by the cats over at Gear Sluts. Which indeed seems like a nice plug in.  I just think programming the instruments them selves is super arduous. I could be wrong but it seems that having a dedicated plug in for that is a much better choice considering you can use it on everything. I may be crazy though. I'll see what I can accomplish with it and start a new threat if necessary. Thanks ;)

The PC Expander/Gate is really handy. I use it quite a bit, in a pinch have you looked at the percussion or vocal strip?
