Hi all.

Weird one, not come across this before.

64 bit OS/Sonar/Dim Pro

I have a pad which is playing a simple block chord right at the end of the song.

I inserted a series of tempo changes, ramping down from 105 to 80 over the course of 2 measures

Upon playback, the pad starts to "warble" as it encounters the tempo  changes.

Remove the tempo changes, pad plays normally.

Bouncing/freezing does absolutely nothing to help.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

I can think of a couple of ways to work around this problem, but it should not be happening.

Cheers, Jonesey

Look at the Event List view and see if you have some modulation or other controls that would be affected by the tempo change.

My guess is that DimPro is trying to tempo sync something that doesn't need to be tempo sync'd.  I'd pull the tempo changes, then bounce and save the result so it doesn't get unfrozen later.  After you put the tempo changes back in, there's no way it can mess with it because now it's just an audio file.

But if it were an audio file it wouldn't follow the tempo changes, would it?  I may be wrong, but that's my understanding.

I agree that it sounds as if something in DimPro is trying to sync host, or some such.... If that's the case then perhaps have a look through its innards and disable the relevant sync.

When you say warble, Bristol_Jonesey, what does it do?  Modulation in amplitude, pitch?  This might point you to the place you need to turn of sync to host tempo.

seems that you may have a temp sync lfo, envelopes or effect...

Correct...but I was basing my suggestion on the fact that 1) it's a pad and 2) it's a ritard at the end of the song.  Extend the length of the pad then fade to fit.

i guess i dont see any audio file in the real sense of the phraase.. dim pro is not a sample player per se.. it is a synth that uses samples instead of oscillators... so while the sound is based upon an audio file, there is an entire synth chain behind it.. and many things can be tempo sync'd

We were talking about after you bounce/freeze the DimPro track.  That is a real audio file!  Look in your project's audio folder and you'll find it there.  At that point DimPro is entirely out of the picture and you're then dealing with a resulting audio file that no longer responds to MIDI or tempo changes.

Yeah, that was one of the ideas I had for a workaround.

Don't think there's any tempo synced modulation going on anywhere in this pad - if anyone wants to try it, it's the pad "defeated" under Pads in Dim Pro 1.5

Thanks everyone for your valued suggestions.
