i believe what i was asking about is the "snap offset" my next question is how do i expand the inspector to show the entire strip?

You can't. You have to scroll up and down... and I think I've seen people here say that scrolling is only available for Expanded (which is whack IMO). However you can Undock the inspector and move it around the screen until you can see what you want or collapse/expand the various modules to show what you want to work with. Looks like X2s inspector will be much better.

If you undock some windows they can show more than docked.
