Fresh Install or re-install? If it is a re-install be sure to clean out all traces of Cakewalk in your registry. Stuff can be lurking in there that could cause some problems. If you are a brand new user, Welcome!

CCleaner pretty easy to use and thorough at cleaning out the gack from old installs. You can get it on CNET. Also read the install/update instructions VERY carefully. It's not really all that tricky but it can screwed up if one does not pay attention. There is a document that comes with the D patch that describes the process.
