So Andrew,
If I order it(TH2) this week, do I get it now? Or do I have to wait until X2 comes out?
Just wondering.
Thanks!

hmm... just listened to the demo. Sounds kind of "synthy" to me. Maybe it was just how the demo was programmed but that's not really what I envisioned.

Do you mean the string sounds? I agree. DSF has its use, I have a couple of their expansions and they are good but they're not $500 so to speak. I can't get enough strings so I'm keen to check them out. But don't expect EWQLSO or Vienna Quality to them. Still a pretty cool bonus IMO.

@ProjectM... Yeah, I was reminded of the string banks on my DX7. I mean I could still use them I guess and free is always good but wow, people pay $149 for that? Maybe it sounds better once it's installed.

Just another thing I'd like to clarify. Would those who recently upgraded (in August ) to X1 production suite ( from expanded in my case) still be eligible for the strings bonus, and would they get x2 early?

Cheers

That's good comparisment from what I remember of the DX7 - although, I would think these are actually more realistic but not quite as realistic as some of the biger packages. What will be interesting is to see how it stacks up to the Garritan Pocket Orchestra in Dim Pro, which IMO is pretty good. Either way, I use strings in pretty much everything I do and have many libraries which has their own use, be it realistic, fake, emulated or what have you. I love layering different strings to get new sounds and for mix purposes. Love strings - I'm an addict!

@ProjectM... It does sound more nuanced than the DX7 but definitely has that digital stabbing type quality as opposed to the smooth warm acoustic tone I was expecting seeing as how they are supposed to be actual samples. It could be that effect is being created by multiple instances of the same instrument being triggered by a single MIDI note. Maybe using the single instruments and layering them with their own tracks will create something more true to life. It sounds like the intro to Game of Thrones or other fantasy type musical scores which seem to be a popular sound these days... but to me that's all too mechanical. Oh well. Free is free and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised once I get my hands on it.
