@RSMCGUITAR.
It is always "1709". Before and after Fall-update.
You must have a look on the BUILD-number.
1709 - 15063.674 before "Fall"
1709 - 16299.19 is the fall-update.

Let me correct you since it's not so:

1703 is "Creators Update"
1709 is "Fall Creators Update"

The build number 15063.674 still belongs to the version 1703 (Creators Update).

I get loads of missing .dll files when trying to launch Splat after this update. I ran latest version of VC c++ 2017 and it seemed to solve the problem. Then today I downloaded the early update for Splat and had to re-activate AD2 and some more .dll files are missing again. Something about grooveplayer >dll s missing. Windows 10 turning out to be a bit of a disaster.

Yes I get those missing dll for Overloud. Seems a bug between CCC and W10. There are a few threads talking about the missing dll message.
The fix seems to be make sure you have a backup of the folder that contails all the Sonar files on a second drive. Note make this back up when all is good and most up to date.

If the dll. goes wrong it will show as 0bytes when you click properties. Delete it and replace it with the dll from your back up. A lot were re installing Sonar or rolling back and that does not fix the issue.
Somehow updating Sonar makes random dll go 0 bytes but this seems to only be with the Creative Version of W10.
I never get the message when I update my W7 laptop. And I use the  CCC download folder I share with both machines.

I've always had to register XLN plugins and anything that requires iLOK after upgrading Windows OS as it changes the computer's ESN (electronic serial number)

I tried updating to 1709 twice, 1st time it failed at about 70% in the final updating mode then rolled back and reinstalled 1706.
After following all the steps and procedures listed for the Blue Screen error code which included check for disk errors scan, checking for all new driver updates, uninstalling Trend Micro virus protection, unplugging all unnecessary USB devices  I tried again and it failed again at 86% in the final updating mode, and rolled back again.
It was kind of scary and agonizing wondering for an hour or so if this update was going to create compatibility issues that could/would knock my Scarlett 18i20 off line... Perhaps my router or printer or maybe refusing to let me reinstall Trend Micro???
Screw that because if it ain't broken, no need to be the first in line for upgrades, especially if I have not much of an idea if I even need or want to use or "beta test" these upgrades.
Only guarantee I know when upgrading is things change, and when things change, ****happens and that's not always a good thing. ;-(

I actually consider myself very lucky for only losing several hours of my time as everything is working correctly and my configuration hasn't changed, so I think I'll wait a couple of months before trying again.
I've read some ugly reports by irate people who's computers are now in a Blue Screen perpetual loop state between BIOS and Windows starting, every time their machine starts to boot before they even get a chance to enter "Safe Mode".

I upgraded last Tuesday.  I did (finally) find AD2 needed reauthorization, but nothing else that I have.   System is running OK and no other problems popped up.  I upgraded Sonar, yesterday, to the 2017.10 early access version and it too is running OK.

I upgraded yesterday and today I have found something quite bizarre that I'm sure has to be caused by the upgrade.

I tried to open an MP3 in Windows Media Player and nothing happened, no error message of any kind but it just wouldn't play.
So I started going through my music library and found dozens that wouldn't play but most did.

I only went a little way through my library as it's gigantic and would take me all week but after finding about 15 songs and 2 complete albums that wouldn't play it was obvious that something was wrong.
They play fine in groove music and vlc player and they open in sound forge.

I run a dual boot system so I booted into my other version of windows 10 and the songs in question played fine so it has definitely been caused by the upgrade.

Really odd, wondering if I can uninstall windows media player and if so whether it would do any good.

I had to reinstall driver for my scarlett 6i6 and re-disable the nvidea hd audio. Now all is well.

I upgraded to 1709 this afternoon.

Just loaded SPLAT and then Kontakt, Sample Tank etc in separate tracks. It seems to me that SPLAT and the loading of plugins is way faster than before .. for me anyway. Way slicker ..

Doing the crash test dummy approach, and after checked all driver updates I did a "clone" boot drive image from my Intel i5 Dell laptop, running SONAR X3 PE, Studio ONE, and Sound Forge Pro 11, Presonus Audiobox 44VSL (just in case something went radically wrong), then ran the upgrade from 1706 to 1709 and all went well without any problems, save for reregistering plugins, which is normal.

And yes it is noticeably speedier but I attribute that to the new and fresh OS installation, and expect it to slow down to normal after Windows Registry fills back up with broken links and building up temp files and other crap over time.
 That's normal too.

I really like Edge browser's new ability to "Read Aloud" anything printed from websites, Adobe Reader,  and eBooks. Not that I don't love to read, but now I can listen while doing other mundane tasks.
It works best with "Reading View" enabled. If not, it reads everything on the web page including adds..
