thanks for the quick answer on my last question.
how do i get the inspector to scroll up and down so i can see the entire strip?

You have to have Expanded to scroll.

At this point it is probably best to wait for X2, which will have Expanded built-in.  There is a sale right now (see the thread about the softube buy) that will let you get X2 free as well as expanded right now.
