Seems to me that lots of folks have requested more color customization. Just wondering if there is a particular reason this has not yet been addressed... and whether there are plans to address it in a future update (or version)?

So how often do Sonar put out new DAWs these days? Fortnightly?

I was referring to the new behavior we have for lasso selection vs time selection. Time selection is now achieved by click and drag. Lasso selection is done via right click and drag.

Ahhh...   I see.   That's certainly a different approachh.   Though potentially a very good idea after thinking about it a bit.

It's been about two years with X1 now ...

Yes the guitar does sound cooler now,but I could be imagining it[that didn't come out right,I meant to say it sounds cool, and I can hear it better now!]

Time to go to sleep!

I am wondering too. Whats so out-of-the-world complicated about the comprehensive color customization feature that it cant be included ?

And wait a min, the real question is NOT why its not included now, but actually why on earth it is removed from previous versions ? It was there in Sonar 7 and probably also in 8, 8.5, etc. So why doesn't it work in X1 ?

Its the age of 24 and 32-bit color, 16 million colors and things like that are so common. There should be textures even apart from plain colors which is common in many MS Win software. And Sonar being primarily Win-based and upgraded for such amazing advanced features like R-mix, Prochannel, etc.; color customization should be a cakewalk (pun intended... :-)). Or as I am not a software pro, is it really such a difficult thing to do ?

It'll be great if we are heard out on this and Cakewalk resolves the color thing in X2.....otherwise amazing DAW for everything else...no doubt !

I'm assuming it actually is because very few DAWs currently or have ever offered color customization on par with CW.   Even newer ones like Studio One.

That said... of all the things in X1, the console strips are probably the first things I'd change if I could.  At the same time, there are many things that I'd put before color customization on my personal list.   And given the list of automation changes Noel listed, one of the biggest just may be addressed in more ways than one - I'll take changes like that over non-dull grey console strips.     Though I still look forward to the time when I can pick a different color.

Point taken. No doubt that an overhaul of great features can be expected in X2. X1 was such when it launched over 8.5.  Lack of color customization alone was no reason to refrain from using X1 and undoubtedly may not be for upgrading to X2.
I love Sonar ! X1 is great. X2 is expected to be even better....but....

Lets even assume that it is a difficult programming task to color customize and CW is unique in whatever it offers which other DAWs dont offer. But thats where the question haunts again : Why was this sort of downgraded ? Greater color customization was already there in versions previous to X1 ! The difficult feature was already achieved ! Why did it disappear in X1 ? I am sure colors of console strips and track strips and lots of other GUI parameters could be changed easily in previous versions. Then why did that vanish in X1 ? Someone correct me if I assume wrong.

Lets at least concur that the issue is not of introducing full color customization as something new, but rather bringing back what already existed before X1 but was taken away in X1 for some reason beyond comprehension !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think X1 was a complete new build from the ground up. This would explain why some of the features in the older versions didn't make it to the new build.

X2 sounds to me like a great addition to what was in X1...I'm certainly looking forward to getting it.

Me too ! Cant wait for X2. But I would like to change colors of my console strips, track strips and lots of other stuff freely and at will. Hope that will be possible......keeping fingers crossed.
