I would too but it's not a deal breaker for me. There's just too much good stuff in X2 that I'm looking forward to.

Seems to me that lots of folks have requested more color customization. Just wondering if there is a particular reason this has not yet been addressed... and whether there are plans to address it in a future update (or version)?

I've been thinking the same way about the inability to rearrange tabs in the Multidock. You'd figure they were using some C++ GUI toolkit like WxWidgets, in which case it would just be a simple matter of enabling drag and drop functionality. Rearranging tabs is pretty much standard fare these days, same with color customization. Let's face it, those colors are stored in a file somewhere, and customization would just be a matter of implementing a standard color picker widget and saving the colors.

NO way all of sonar was written anew

color and fully custimizable menus and button bars took 4 versions in Sonar Classic. more than 4 years. So prolly X3, at least another year.

Correct me if I'm wrong ---

OK, you are wrong. X1 was not a complete build from the ground up, it would take several years.

X1 was not a complete build from the ground up

Correct.   From what I can recall most of the "guts" were carried over from 8.5 but with many tweaks where needed.  However, AFAIK the main UI actually was rebuilt in X1 which is probably why color customization took a hit.   The screen captures they're showing for X2 do have some changes, so perhaps they're getting all of this stuff worked out before tackling customization.    For the sake of console view strips I hope this is the case.

+1 on bringing back the fuller color customization of 8.5.  I do like the color scheme better in the X2 video.

In the video, low latency.. 1.1 msec ... I wonder what interface Cake is using :)

If it's VS = Octa = Quad, I'm happy!

Roland Octa-Capture. That's the lowest setting for their VS Streaming driver (same in VS-700, VS-100, Quad=Capture).

Seth, will latency in X2 be improved generally, with just about any interface?  I'm doing pretty well right now tracking @ 4.4 msec roundtrip with ASIO 24/88.2 and using Apogee AD/DA-16X and a Lynx AES16 card, but that setting does get bogged down with larger projects.  It would be cool as cream to drop that latency down another notch.  That means I could stop yearning for a nice mixer (like an SSL Matrix) for zero latency.  Yes, getting to 1.1 or any lower than 4.4 would make that much of a difference!

I'm startin to figger color will just be ignored forever.

Well, until MS decides on a new color scheme/command bar theme, Win9,...???

And eventually most of us will stop whinin about how it used to be better. Even though we cannot tell what bus has focus.
