I really COULD care less...

what about the differences in country spellings.  It is always presumed (not assumed) that Britain has the trump card.  Frankly, most of life and history is about *who gets there first*.  The rest is nepotism and a good defenSe.  I've noticed that alot of liberals use judgEment without the *e*.

Two that always annoy me are "Sup?" (short for "What's up?") and "Where you at?" which is just lack of graduating first grade.

If you're going to talk to Americans, then the proper spelling is "memorize."
(Unless you're from Norwich in which case it's probably "mamorise.")

HTH.

The irony is that in many cases, the American spelling is the original British spelling whereas the British spelling was at some point contaminated by the French. For instance the addition of 'u' in words like "colour."

And here I've always blamed the Welsh for all the extra ewes, I mean "u's"...

So true sharks.  That's the nature of competition,  isomorphism. (The competition between France and england).  Another irony is that I'm an Episcopalian but look to France for ideas.  They helped us win the war anyways. The fact that Britain hasn't had a decent idea since positivism doesn't enter the equation.

It's the English language - the clue is in the name.

Jesting aside, I do love language and etymology and all that stuff though. 'American' English spelling seems a lot more phonetic to me, which must make it much easier to learn and er...... spell.

Now repeat after me....
  • Alu-min-i-um
  • Car-a-mal-ise
  • Herb

I've used "sup?" with my friends for years... but it's used in an ironic way.

So what's worse? Using "sup?" or the fact I seem to be a hipster*.

*but I'm only a hipster to be ironic... and I was a hipster before being a hipster was cool.

You've probably never heard of me.
