Hi!

I have an M-Audio Delta 44. The output on that is a stereo mix of left and right channels, and it has 4 inputs. I'm recording a live event with 4 mics in. I have to send a stereo mix back out to the PA system. But I'd like to mute or silence 2 of the mics so that while they are still being recorded, they are not being monitored. (These are the crowd mics - I don't want to send the crowd mics back through the PA as it will bring raucous feedback, but I do want to record them at a nice full level.) I'm sending the 2 vocal mics out of the Delta 44 and into the PA panned left and right so that I can adjust them in the PA as well.

Can I mute or silence the channel outputs on the crowd mics only - still recording, but not monitoring?

Seems simple, but I'm struggling.

Thank you so much!

I'm a bit confused - - why aren't you recording from the PA instead of visa-versa?

You shouldn't hear any of your inputs unless you have "input echo" enabled on that track in sonar, IF YOU ARE it's a routing issue in your delta, not sonar.

You need to use whatever mixer software that runs the delta I/O's to mute the feed thru. Most likely in the settings of the delta.

Yeah, it's in the Delta monitoring. Thank you Freex. I need a new interface. It sums the outputs in a way so that I can't mute the "output of an input" if that makes sense. Looks like it's time to retire this bad boy. :)

And Brian, I don't like to record from the board, I like to record directly from the mics. So that everything is un-effected so I can mix it in the studio with better gear than what the board provides. :)

Thanks for the replies!
