...wicked
fer realz. I dropped into this thread and had to sort through all this Hatfield/McCoy crap and I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.

The envelope bugs are real and need addressing for sure. Preliminary looks at the event filtering seem to suggest they've been touched by devz, but until they say for sure it's unclear if those have been squashed.

There are many things in Sonar that I know just work, plain and simple. Automation isn't one of them - it's a bit on the inconsistent side. (Undertow's clips prove that quite clearly).

And even when/if it works - there is room for improvement. If I CAN put automation on a track or a bus, I expect to be able to edit it and move it around easily. If it needs to be stored on it's own track in order to work - which in itself seems a bit silly - then by default, it should be recorded to its own track.

I liked the idea someone had way back earlier in this thread about different Sonar lines:

Sonar X1Post  for all us commercial broadcast types
Sonar X1Score   for all the notators and composers
Sonar X1Producer  which would be basically what we've got without the video, post pro and notation sections.
of course you'd still have to have

Sonar X1MaxPro   with everything AND the kitchen sink thrown in but it would cost so much that only Mike McCue might buy it.

Aloha all,

Cakewalk has a MIDI heart
That heart beats for musicians

If there was to be any dropping of anything it would be the
AUDIO portion that can be dispensed with --

History is ignored by ignorant foolks

A midi sequencer will help any musician, willing to learn
how to use it, make some pretty damn incredible music.

The rest of the audio junk is for making it easier for the midiman to record to HD his creations.  PERIOD.

Finale or Sibellus can take a flying leap.
Or fulfill their reason for being which is to print out musical notation for sale or use by musicians.
It damn sure isn't meant to be used to create midi files.

That there are recording engineers and producers that want to use the recording capabilities of Sonar/soon to be X1, speaks volumes for the quality of Rolands audio recording developments.

Any one who thinks blocking other posters or go crying to the cake staff
"booo hooo hooo he said nastys at me and doesn't agree with me"
is a way to deal with life------------what can a man say?

This one says:    Grow a mind.

midi creates music
audio records it

Seems obvious to me.

Just my opinion

Midi is for recording data, 0's and 1's that represent values within a code. It has been proven time and again that Midi cannot equal the range and intricacy of audio yet. Sound is more than 0's and 1's. It is too big for the human brain to encompass. The successful guess's at the totallity of perception have been many and varied per culture but midi has not been in the forefront of pushing the envelope of the perception of the spirit of sound.

Ok Guys,
Stay on topic (wish list) and play nice or get bumped. The arguing isn't even related to the topic and quite disrespectful. If you'd like to engage in heated debate do so elsewhere. Thank you in advance.

You can't be serious?! You haven't even got X1 yet!! Perhaps you're a beta tester?

I agree with you. 1,000,000 %
