I do think people who feel they prefer the mouse are cursing themselves to a generally slow workflow that a bit of learning keyboard shortcuts could radically improve. That's a general point about using computers, not specific to Sonar, though Sonar is an application where learning the shortcuts is an immense benefit. I think was true even prior to X1, when there were a lot more things as top level clickable buttons.

The problem with the computer keyboard is that it's on the far side of my controller keyboard and uncomfortable to reach.   That's why I prefer the mouse.

That's why I ended up getting a wireless keyboard...that was as well...a certain little one by the name of Spring can curl up with me and I'm not having to type chicken wing stylee!!

+1

The mouse is usually far more convenient than the keyboard. Especially when one-click only features are available... as it was in SONAR 8.5................

...good point above, "audyo".......indeed....

The thing really driving me crazy in X1 is NOT having the capability to reach all Control Bars Modules at once...
On a 19" screen, I can only have just a half (...!!!) of them visible altogether........... meaning I have to painfully switch and switch and switch......

To me, that's the worst change in X1.....

...and "Scrollable" Control Bar could be a serious solution.....

Take those old-fashioned multi-level menus AWAY

I work in software development. Usability testing has shown again and again that this is the most hated UI workflow.

But they are the easiest when you are new don't know you way around a program or for finding rarely used functions. Its always easier to read plain English on a menu than look up a PDF of key bindings or decipher a Icon. I say retain them as an alternative to buttons or keystrokes.
