Dont forget that X1 has been out since December 10th 2010. That's the day i paid the $99 fee to upgrade from SONAR 8.5 to X1.

So even if X2 (or whatever) was released tomorrow that's 18 months since X1 was released which would be a 50% longer development cycle than we're used to with SONAR. Though SONAR 8 to 8.5 was about 15 months.

If it comes by the end of this year then that's 2 years.

I can imagine that it's kind of hard to work on an X2 with X1A, X1B, X1C, X1Expanded, X1D.

Cakewalk isn't that big of a development team. The CTO has even said so.

If you think about it, Sonar has already come a long way to support film scoring; it would be odd to bring it this far and then just stop working on refinements.

Surround capability, video, and yes even staff editing have been core features for a very long time, and its hard to understand the concern that sonar might become a mediocre jack of all trades by continuing to enhance/refine these features.

Also, merely having the capabilities available doesn't really pose measurable threat to performance; there may be minor processes running in the background because the features are there, but when you aren't using the features the processes aren't really costing any performance. If they are running at all, they will be orders of magnitude down on the CPU food chain until you actually load and run a video or something.

            the drop-downs have I and O labels.

Manipulation:  console view:

Try Alt + drag

Finer grid line settings for manual quantization

Grid resolution already goes down to 64th notes - how fine do you want it?

sizable: fx bin, send list, pro channel

Agree!

remove IN/OUT title row:  "A waste of skin."  the drop-downs have I and O labels.

Not really sure what you mean by this, but most of the console modules can be shown/hidden under "Modules"

Thank you

I was Clicking before pressing alt.   What was I thinking?

The header row  IN / OUT  is at least a 1/4 inch of wasted space.  The selection boxes have I and O on them, to remind me if I forget what they are for.  Don't need the header

4) More multi-track function changes. I'll elaborate. Click the corner to change volume on all tracks, panning, etc. now. I'd
like to see things like adding a send (to the reverb bus, etc) added to that. If you have a lot of tracks that would save time.

i just saw this topic and don't have the time to read all replies.. but.. i don't understand this.. is this something you want for X2?

selecting several tracks and adding an aux-send (or making ANY change) to one of the tracks while holding ctrl makes the same change for all the selected tracks in X1 already.. .. or did i misunderstand what you're wishing for?

Fix all the Output selectors, Make them just like the input selectors:

Place a checkmark in the little box to the left of the name of the output

This has be broken FOREVER.

In the beginning it was WAY stupidly clever: the selected output was removed from the list.

And in version 4 an update disabled the pop-up balloons.

Consistency is my desire.

A way of starring files in the browser, ie right click a WAV file and put a coloured star next to it that has a meaning to you

Yellow star=Favourite
Red star= Used

etc etc

1 - Please, re-include every option and tool within the staff view, some of us love to work with the staff view.
2 - if noticed that in many cases the audio snap is not that precise when you are using it as a audio to midi function to achieve a trigger for drums.
it would be great if you check that out, the threshold fader is not that precise.
3... i guess that's it.. the software is great!
