Beepster, thanks for all the ideas. I was hoping you would put in an appearance! Yeah, it's become so strange, I am thinking a reinstall may be the best solution, and I will certainly keep in mind all your great suggestions. Cheers!

If you re-install then the installer will install the 32bit version first an then ask you where you want to put the 64bit, should you want to install it.

I only have 64bit Sonar. It recognised the plugin 1st time. As i said, if it multi-docks then its 64bit.

My set up is not special, just normal 64 bit !

Jerry

Because I use Vista 64 BFD eco 64 bit did not install and wont ever on its own. But that is another story.

You don't need BDF eco DV at all. All you need are the samples. They can be brought into BFD eco. I did find a way to install BFD eco 64 bit and now I can choose which I want to load.

If the 64 bit version was installed I would check where it was put and move it to the right folder. What I mean is it may have been put into a folder but in a sub folder that the installer decided to create in the folder you chose. The DLL and the 2 other files should be placed into the folder you want by copy and past. You don't need to rename it either. It will show up as BDF Eco where the 32 bit version will have 32 bit attached to the name.

The 2 others files are BFD eco.map and BFD eco.pdb.

Rescan and it should show up.

Comment:

The install is the worst install I have ever had the displeasure to use. It would have been far easier to not use an installer and give us the files to drag into a folder. Further the installer does not support Vista 64 bit. To me that is an insult. They have no right in choosing which OS I want to use. Its a plugin for Pete's sake. The OS should not enter in to it. If the host is happy the plugin should be happy too.

Now that my rant is over it is a nice plugin.

Apart from your issues with vista 64 bit not being supported and therefore not installing what else do you feel is wrong with the install process?
I have no issues with either Eco or BFD2's installer and it seems just like any other to me. The installer found my sonar 32bit vst folder but I had to point it to the sonar 64bit vst folder but I've had to do that with all installers that come with both 32 & 64 bit versions.

John,

OK, maybe for Vista, but I had zero problems installing on W7 64 bit. Honnestly. But each to his/her own system .-)

OK, so you need to read the intructions, but W7 = zero problems.

I installed the program (started with the 1.5 exe) for the first time last night, and it was a breeze. It does install both the 32 and 64bit by default. But I deleted the 32-bit dll and it is fine.

I was thinking generally. I was thinking about the patching for X1 d. The trouble with updating Dim pro and the list goes on.

Often installing is simple but when its not it can lead to rants.

BFD is a nice drum synth.

+1.   Between BFD Eco, EZ Drummer and Session Drummer 3, right now Eco gets the nod as my favorite.  It's a really nice balance between ease of use and flexibility.

Regarding Eco DV, I will continue to use that for cymbals since it offers more slots and therefore more cymbals.  If I ever have the cash to upgrade to the full BFD, then both Eco and Eco DV would no longer be needed.  Because if I could afford BFD I could probably afford the proper system to support it.
