Me again...

I'm trying to patch hihats into the 3rd drum slot in session drummer2

I notice when you right-click on the slot it brings up options to select the different note/hihat slots, such as closed, open, pedal...
From this I figured I would select one slot, load a hi-hat sample into it, select the next slot, load a hihat sample into it, and so on.
That's how it looks like it's meant to work...
HOWEVER, whenever I load a sample into one of those slots, it plays(and changes) the same sample across all hi-hat slots.

I'm sure there must be away to do this...? Much appreciated for replies.

The best way would be to build sfz files for your samples. Look at the sfz files in you Session Drumer Contents Kits directory for examples. SFZ files are text files, easy to read, clone and edit. I do not drop samples directly on the pads but I believe you need to select the note you want to play the sample before you drop it on the pad.

This is exactly what I thought, and what LOOKS like it would make sense, however, as in my original post, dropping a sample on one of the selected notes, patches it across all of them, then selecting and dropping on a different one, does the same.

Thanks for the tip on the sfz files, I may have to try that in future. However I'd like the ease of browsing through and selecting samples for different hits on the fly to see what fit the track rather than having to go create a new file each time. I'm sure there must be a way.

OK just finished playing around dropping samples into Session Drummer. Without using sfz files (or kits/programs), you will only be able to play one sample per pad. The dropdowns associated with the pads are for auditioning samples in a kit or instrument file.

Yeah, thanks man.

I'm actually getting really tired of Sonar, think it may be time to switch DAW.

Too much fiddly awkward and un-intuitive crap in sonar, especially automation and plenty other such things.
