Wasn't this already discussed before?

Wasn't the consensus (then) that Cakewalk probably would not incorporate it as Melodyne is in "competetion" with V-Vocal?

I'd rather see Cakewalk do something on there own, then add this thing.....   Why do we need a whole other SDK in Sonar?

I'm not sure I saw the same "consensus".  I'd say that the consensus was that V-Vocal had been more or less abandoned in place.  I'm thinking that it's much more likely that ARA hasn't been listed in the X2 bullet points because of something much more basic...that is...the lack of development bandwidth to pull off the host integration before the ship date.

if they are going to make vvocal better do that if not then working nicely to get us at least a decent discount on upgrading into melodyne by using this lite version would be the nice decent thing to do, especially since it's FREE to add it into the mix. I would think they have to look at vvocal as being a minor feature that is okay but its really not any competition to the full version of melodyne and so its not likely to be anything that would keep us from upgrading to producer if they wanted to add this into the mix. I am sure they could sell more upgrades of producer if they did include it and made it an exclusive producer feature so its a good idea for cake to do this from a marketing perspective. Having more plugs that do similar things has never been a bad thing in my book. If that was the case Cake wouldn't have more than one type of reverb.

It's "free" in the sense that ARA implementers (apparently) don't have to pay royalties to Celemony to include it in their products.  That's not to say that it's inexpensive to do so, since an interface like this doesn't just drop into your product and work flawlessly without a lot of expensive and time consuming development effort.
