hello all - so this week I bought a song from iTunes and then used iTunes to convert it to an mp3.  So I'm not 100% certain but am pretty sure that I've been able to import the mp3 into Sonar no problem, but this time I keep getting a insufficient memory error.  What's up with that?  I have a quad-core home-built machine with 4 gigs of memory.  I tried rebooting to clear all the memory stuff and cache and still, same error.  

What gives?  Anyone?

PS - why didn't Apple give the iTunes store a different name?  Or the iTunes music player a different name? They're both, iTunes.  It's a little confusing when trying to explain to new users the difference - just my rant...

It is the coded information in the mp3 (cover art etc) that messes it up. If you use Audacity and Lame to convert to a mp3 you (probably) won't have this problem.

If you do a search on google site: forum.cakewalk.com "out of memory" you will find a bunch of hits, the gist of which is that the problem is rarely due to insufficient memory. Have you tried converting your mp3 to a wav file using something other than sonar then importing that wave file? MP3 is a more complex file type subject to tagging incompatibility, possible digital rights management issues etc. There are a bunch of free downloads, and online services that purport to be able to convert MP3 to wav. 

DRM - That's about 99% responsible for this kind of error messages..
